That Sounds Like Something a Clone Would Say...

Last night I went to go see ASSSSCAT at the UCB theatre.  Let me tell you, it was HILARIOUS!  It is free every sunday night, and I have no clue as to why I have not seen it earlier.  From this point forth I would definitely like to try to see it every Sunday night if I do not have plans.  Its improv with suggestions from the audience, so it is a different show every time.

At the show there were a couple people sitting behind me.  I guess they were talking about the tattoo on the back of my neck, because only have of it was exposed, so they were trying to figure out what it was.  Puzzled, they asked me to show it to them.  After I reveal the rest to them, they  proceeded to touch the back of my neck, as well as adjust the neck of my t-shirt several times for no reason.  I don't understand why having tattoos gives someone permission to grab at you.  Often times I will just be hanging out, minding my own business, when a complete stranger feels so inclined to grab my arms and expect them.  Its like a moth drawn to light.  Sometimes it is flattering.  But please, see with your eyes, not with hands! haha.

I am already an hour and 45 min. into work...  Everything is zipping by so far.  Keep it up Monday!

Bird Shit

Quick Recap:

BBQ Yesterday:  A LOT of fun!  Made Balloon Animals, Ate some good food, and Talked to a girl extensively about queer cinema.

RACHELS PARTY:  Even more fun!  Great People, Found Cinderella's missing earring,  Pube Carrot, Sunkist, and talked to a girl extensively about spirituality and self-being.

Today I took my road bike out for a long spin.  I almost reached downtown!  It felt great! However, a bird shit on my shoe while I was riding.

I am writing this post with haste, because I am fixing to head over to the UCB for free performance of ASSSSCAT !  I have been wanting to see this one for a while!

p.s.  I hope I can remember the inside jokes, mentioned above, in the future...

Still a Four Eyes

This morning, I went in for my Lasik consultation/ possible surgery .  The doctor felt I was a great candidate for Lasik, but my eyes' reflexes were a little sensitive.  So, he gave me some eye drops and told me to come back sometime next week to get the procedure.  I was disapointed that I did not get it done today.  I was so looking forward to it.  But, I am glad the Doc checked the reflexes, because he said most doctors don't and would have proceeded with the surgery anyways.  So, Saturday July 12th is the big day!  I did not want to get it done next Saturday, because that is my birthday.  And, although it would be a great present for myself, I would rather spend my birthday without a laser zapping my eyeballs.

I spent the majority of the day bike riding all over town.  I rode to the grocery store to get some lunch supplies. Came home. Rode to GoodWill and the Dollar Store. Came Home.  Worked on my new bike for a little bit, rode it around the neighborhood. Came home.

I am looking forward to some festivities this evening.  I am fixing ( I know, people mock me all the time for saying this. FIXING! I am from Texas, big whoop) to go to a BBQ over at Cj's friend Jonathan.  Then tonight there is a little shindig over at Rachels.  I wish I could be in attendance sans glasses, but what's another couple weeks?

My Dad Wanted me to Hook up with a Girl from TV

FOLLOW UP:

Last Night...Meh: Love and Fools

After work last night, I was pretty excited about going to this art show in Venice.  So around 8:30, Lauren swung by to pick me up, and we headed down there.   I must admit, I am one of the worst backseat drivers.  I just assume that my driving is the best of all the land, and anyone in comparison scares the shit out of me.  I need to learn to relax when it comes to riding in the passenger seat.  I mean, my friends are obviously still alive, and they have probably been driving for close to 10 years if not more, so I should feel confident placing my life in their driving gloved hands.

ANYWAYS, we get to the art gallery and there is a huge crowed surrounding the building.  We look up into the 2nd floor window and we see Teddy Ruxpin sitting there, pimped out, singing some soul music.  Everyone got a kick out of this.  We headed upstairs, passing some taxidermic bees on the wall.  This exhibit was a collection of life size dioramas.  When you arrive upstairs you are greeted by a Bee Keepeers outfit attached to the mirror.  I read that the artist also bee-keeps as a hobby.  Turning the corner, you are transported high into the sky , along with a stuffed fox tied to some balloons with squirrels clinging onto him.  The fox looked to be posed in some creepy, backwards head, exorcist type position.  You are then beckoned by a lulling hum to enter a hallway.  The Hallway is all black, with the exception of a Pimped out walrus head with gold tusks.  You turn to your right and see a sacrifice on the alter ( some sort of mole fetus in a jar).  We go outside on the roof to a children's playroom, featuring a soultry Teddy Ruxpin video.  Then the show was complete.  It was a neat little show, I just wish there was some more art to explore.  It was all over so fast, that our stay at the exhibit was probably a fourth of the driving time.  But, I still had a good time, and it was something different.

Driving back to my apartment , we pass by an intersection where everyone at the bar cheered us on for the evening. Alright!  To be honest ,we drove by the bar, and we heard a collectively loud "YAAAAAAY", and we could only assume it was for us.  We arrived into my neighborhood, and at this point I turned into a Debby Downer.  Thats right, I started talking about Kim.  I however, have been bottling it up for a long time.  I guess I should be using this journal to talk about these type of things, so I don't have to bottle them up, or lay my problems down on anyone else.  So I started telling Lauren, how I cannot stop thinking about Kim.  Literally, there is not a minute that goes by where I don't think about her.  I have rarely been  mopey or depressed in the last month.  I actually feel really great 90 percent of the time.  BUT, I still think about Kim every goddam minute. Multiply that by the past 2 months, and you get A LOT of minutes!  I can only assume she does not think about me, so it is only natural I need to get passed it.  I mean, I am doing great things with my life right now!  It has been almost 2 months since the breakup.  I think I may be acting like an idiot, when I say I would want to get back together if the opportunity ever arrived. But as the song ponders "Why do Fools Fall in Love"?  I am a cretin for her.  Needless to say, I project my happiness will increase from 90% to 200% when all is in the dust. If people read this journal, I am sorry for laying my problems down on you. It was actually kind of therapeutic to write. AND, I am 99.9% sure she does not read this thing, so I think I am safe. haha.

I am REALLY looking forward to this weekend!

Boring Blog Entry ( skip this one )

Last night after work I was supposed to have a very important business meeting.  Lauren and I are in the works on something that has the potential to be HUGE!  Unfortunately due  to unforeseen circumstances ( involving an arm, and possibly a loss of feeling ), we were unable to attend said meeting.  I guess greatness will have to be postponed to a later date.

So, After work I came home and did a little workout routine.  I decided to track progress of my studly development visually, through photographs.  I missed day 1 and 2, so I began with day 3.  These pictures will not be posted online, so don't ask! haha.  Who knows what the pervs out there will do with studly pictures of my studly body transformation. hahaha.  ANYWAYS, after the workout, I sat around for a little while, popped in a movie and fell deep into the land of slumber.

Tonight I am going to a life size diorama art show.  It looks and sounds like it will be way awesome!  I hope work is not as slow today, as it was yesterday...

Fun Things!

There are a couple things I am really excited about this week!  Yesterday morning I called and made an appointment to get a Lasik consultation.  They asked me if I was a good candidtate for Lasik, if I would like to have the procedure done the same day.  I said "sure".  SO, come Saturday, I may or may not be shedding my glasses for a new sleek and glamorous Hollywood look! haha.  It will definitely be weird not having my glasses.  I have worn them for so long that they are definitely a part of me.  I will be a little sad to see them go, but there are too many benefits of Lasik, I say "FU Glasses!" (under my breath, so the glasses don't hear me and get offended).

After work, I went and met up with my future Tattoo artist.  He is a friend of a friend from Texas.  The guy seems really rad!  He is an older gentleman.  Very nice, very friendly.  He has a very similar taste in artwork.  He is also a very talented comic book artist.  I am really excited, because I think I found a good match for me!  We discussed a chest piece I want to do, and I am having it done next tuesday!  I couldn't be more thrilled!

After the tattoo consultation, I headed over to Amoeba to catch the Watson Twins.  Those are two damn talented girls.  They sounded beautiful, and they put on a great show.  It was celebrating their CD release, and I predict the album is going to be a huge hit!

Last night was the "See You Next Tuesday" show at the UCB.  It was good for sure, not great, but good.  The first couple acts were not too funny, but the MC was funny in an odd way, as well as the last few comics.  I have been going to the UCB at least once a week for the past month or so, sometimes twice a week.  Seeing so much stand up and comedy , really makes me want to participate myself.  Same thing goes for all the bands I see.  They are inspiring me to play music. I am holding off on that for a little bit, until a certain friend arrives.... I have a feeling that the music may go over a little better than my comedy. haha.

I have a very important business meeting tonight.  Get ready to have the fashion world pull a 360!

G'Day Mate!

Last night was Chris and Ashlins last night in L.A.  It was great having them here, and getting to hang out with them.   I just wish all my friends would move out to Los Angeles.  Everyone would love it!  I promise!  They just came over and chilled at the apartment for a little while.  It was then  time to take off, and I left them with CJ.

I headed over to Barneys, for some Monday night Karaoke.  It was a little slow at first, but then it picked up real fast and I had a lot of fun!  I sang my standard " Only the Good Die Young" by Billy Joel.  I brought down the house for sure.  Both women AND men were tossing undergarments towards my general direction.  Rarely do I branch away from my standard, but maybe I shall be a little more adventurous in my song stylings next time.

ACCENTS:
So, last night, I met this Australian girl. This was funny, because on Sunday night, Lauren and I were talking about how accents make a person  more attractive, (This lead to me speaking with a "hot" UK accent for the woman at the Taco Bell drive-thru.  Needless to say, I don't think it was a turn on for her, haha)  But, This girl was already cute, don't get me wrong.. still, it is definitely true about the accents....well most accents. haha.  Anyways, Lauren and I were wondering if other countries found the American accent attractive.  So, last night I asked my new Australian friend if this was the case.  Unfortunately, it is not. haha.  She said at one point Australians thought Americans were cool, but since the war in Iraq, they have had a change of opinion.  Sorry America, its going to be that much harder to find yourself a hot Australian girl/guy with a hot australian accent.

It Was a Cool Pool Party

I was not sure what to expect out of yesterday.  I had to wake up really early to go to the airport, But I didn't want to come home and sleep all day and be lazy.  The apartment was unbearable, so I headed over to the Yach's to soak up some of that sweet sweet air-conditioner.  I rode my bike across town and was exhausted from the heat and a little de-hydration.  We chilled in the cool air of the apartment for a little bit, while Lindsey and I waited to go to the House of Blues Pool Party.

THINNER:
As I was using the restroom at the Yach's, I noticed a scale in the corner.  I haven't  weighed myself since the beginning of 2008.  I stepped on, and nearly freaked out when it said I was 145 lbs.  I asked Lauren if the scale was correct and she said it was 5 lbs. over, so I actually weighed 5 lbs. less.  140 lbs!!!!! What was wrong with me???  When I moved to L.A.  I weighed 180.  I have lost 40 lbs since I have moved here.  I felt it was kind of unhealthy that I lost that much weight.  But my stomach is tiny and I can't eat much.  PLUS I ride my bike a lot.  Well, I am going to use this lack of weight to start working out harder, and tone some muscle.  I plan on checking out some of the gyms in the area this week.  In a couple months I will be in the best shape of my life!

POOL PARTY
It was now time for Lindsey and I to head over to the H.O.B. pool party on top of the Hyatt hotel on the Sunset Strip.  This pool party was phenomenal.  The rooftop view was more than breathtaking.  You had a 360 view of  the entire city and the hills.  The pool felt amazing.  Swimming is one of my favorite activities in the world, and I hardly ever get to do it here.  I need more friends who are as gung-ho on swimming as I am.   If I spent everyday on top of the Hyatt rooftop pool, I would be a happy man :)

BE KIND REWIND
After the pool party, I went back to the Yachs and watched Be Kind Rewind.  A film I have wanted to see for a while.  It was a quite enjoyable movie.  I guess there was only so much you could expect with the concept.  But, I love Michel Gondry, and whatever he dips his fingers into, usually has a hint of gold.  It reached near genius in their movie re-enactments, with their ability to pull off "special fx".  But overall, it is a film you can watch over and over again, but does not necessarily have any depth like Gondry's previous films.

MIKEYS BIRTHDAY
Last night we celebrated Mikeys birthday party with a huge Cinespace bash.  This is a club/restaurant on the Hollywood strip that has potential to be really cool!  The atmosphere was awesome, but a lot of the crowed consisted of douchbagery.  These douchbags are the pretty boy hipster crowed.  God, how I hate the pretty boy hipsters. Their clothes are worth more than the majority of my possessions, and they stand poised with that asshole expression across their face. They use sleaze-ball tactics to pursure every woman in the bar, and in this crowed it works for the most part.  Its not that I am a bitter person, or jealous in any sense.  I am open to every-type of person, and give everyone a shot.  But, when you bare witness to douchebags like this, bathing in douchebagery, you can't help but feel a little since of loathing.
ANYWAYS,There was an open Vodka bar,  in which I partook in.  It's a rarity to see me drink. haha.  Lemon Sun played as well.  It is always great getting to watch them.  They are such a talented and fun band to watch! Overall, despite the douchebags, it was a VERY FUN evening!  Maybe I will even check out Cinespace again (after I get my pretty boy hipster routine down. ha.)

You know, my Birthday is coming up.... Here is a list of a couple things on my want list:

WANT LIST ( in no particular order)
1. A gym membership
2. some Tattoo work
3. Lasik eye surgery
4. A Vespa
5. To be famous
6. To fix up my road bike
7. A Honda Element

Maybe I can get all by the end of 2008.  We shall see....

Lonna's Trip

GLOBAL WARMING
As I write this, I have just woken up to find myself drenched in sweat.  The past few days have been sweltering.  The lack of air condition in my apartment makes these conditions near unbearable.  I am sure when this apartment was built in the 60s or 70s, air condition was not a necessity... and for the most part, it is not.  So far I found the summer average to be in the low 80s ( the nights low 60s).  But, you get those couple days out of the month, where global warming kicks your ass, and reminds  you that this state may be floating  off in the near future.  I may find myself leaving the apartment soon, to find an establishment where I can walk/sit in some damn air conditioning.  Grocery stores always seem to be chilly....haha.  I just feel bad for Roxie and her coat of fur.  Poor, Poor, Roxie :(

LONNA WEEKEND
So this weekend, my friend Lonna  (originally from Texas, and now resides in Utah) came to visit me.  I have already mentioned the Thursday activity, Now, I shall wrap up the weekend.  I worked all day Friday, I planned on leaving early so I could entertain my guest.  But, Friday was one of the few days where I had work to do , pretty much all day.  So, Lonna stopped by and had lunch with me at work.  She, left and I finished out the day.  We had plans to meet up with another group of friends, Chris and Ashlin ( who are visiting from Texas), for dinner that evening.  Lonna really wanted mexican food, since the mexican food in Utah is lacking...haha.  I chose El Compadre off Sunset.  Great restaurant with a great vibe.  It was crazy packed, however, but we decided to sit out the wait.  We Finally get seated about an hour later, and we all agree that it was worth the wait.  After dinner we decide to call it an early night, because we know we have a full day Saturday.

Saturday was an exhausting day.  We began the day by going to Venice Beach.  When it is this hot outside, the beach is one of the few outdoor places you can go and tolerate the heat.  We walked around a little, had a little meal on the sand, got a little tan, and  decided we were ready to jet out of there.  On the car ride back to Hollywood, we had a funny conversation about how we found it so odd that we used to date ( This was about 6 years ago, haha).  We both agreed how we were not attracted to each-other at all!  Lonna was pretty much my first serious girlfriend, ever. But,  at this point, NEVER in a million years could we ever find ourselves as love  interests, haha.  ANYWAYS,  we arrived home, cleaned up and headed to what we thought would be an awesome movie premiere.   We went to go watch the red carpet for the Wall-E movie premiere.  I figured that would be a nice touristy thing to take her to, and I have yet to go to one myself.  So we wait outside of the greek theatre ( which by the way, is in Griffith Park, an amazing and beautiful getaway located inside the city and a couple miles from my place), for a while.  Finally the limos start arriving.  I didn't recognize a lot of the stars because they were all kids from the Disney Channel.  I only got to see a few of the stars I cared about (such  as Sigourney Weaver, Kevin Smith, Fred Willard, Brad Garrett,  Jeff  Garland ), before we decided it was too hot and too damn boring for us to stay. haha.  We take off and head home, where we rest for about 30 minutes before heading over to the UCB theatre for "Seth and Ed's Puppet Talk Show".  A very funny show featuring Ed Helms.  It was  almost midnight after the show, so we decide to call it a night since Lonna had an early flight.  We sleep for a little bit and wake up at 5:30am to go to the airport.  I drop her off, come back  home  and pass out.  I wake up for a couple minutes, and pass back out.  I wake up again and write this blog you have now finished reading...

I need to get out of the house ASAP... I know of some fun activities going on, but they do not begin until a little later... maybe if I will be sweating anyways, I will just ride my bike for a little while and make it purposeful sweat.

Tourists

So Last night after work I went over to LAX to pick up my ol' friend Lonna, who I have known since High-school, and is in town for the weekend.  I waited around for a little while, then her plane landed.  She called and asked where I was, and I said by her baggage claim.  Her plane was 80 percent asians, so I figured it wouldn't be hard to spot a red head. haha.  She calls me back and said she was at the baggage claim and did not see me.  So this goes on for a while, and I figure out she is at the wrong baggage claim in another wing...haha.
Every-time I go to the airport, all I can think about is the night I arrived in Texas to move Kim here.  It was really one of the happiest moments of my life.  I never felt anything like that before.  The feeling is indescribable.  Even though we are not together anymore... That specific moment in time was, and still is, so special to me.  Hopefully I will experience something like that again, one day...
So ANYWAYS, we go back to the apartment and wait to meet up with Chris N. and his girlfriend (who also happen to be in town at the exact same time).  We hang out at the apartment for a lil' bit before going out to eat.  I choose Mel's  Diner , its a perfect touristy type joint to bring some tourists, haha.  It's right on Hollywood and Highland (The center attractions of Hollywood).  Mels' is cool.  I had been inside before, but I had never eaten there.  It is a 50's themed throwback diner.  Paper hats and all! haha.  The food was good,  and it was nice getting to hang out with my friends from out of town.
I am not 100 percent sure what is on the agenda for this evening...  I know tonight's festivities shall consist of eating Mexican food. haha.  Tomorrow is a JAM PACKED day, however! Its going to be craaazzzyyyy.....

Errands 97's

So last night after work I was pretty stoked to see the Old 97's at Amoeba.  It was cool getting to see them out here, but they sounded terrible.  Usually the in-stores at Amoeba always sound great.  But last night everything was off, both the band and the sound in general.  Oh well, I had a fun time none the less.
After the Show I met up with Lauren to run some errands.  Target for Laundry detergent, Sports Authority for  Bike lights, Best Buy for the Disney Classic' Heavy weights.  After our errands we had a quick bite at Wendys.   Dave Thomas would be rolling around in his grave at the sight of the jacked up value meal prices, haha.  Then we headed over to my place where I could do laundry and we could watch the afore mentioned cinematic masterpiece.  Lauren could only make it halfway through before she got too sleepy and had to leave.  She is in for a treat whenever we decide to finish the 2nd half!
At this point I still had drying time for my laundry.  The dry cycle finished and all my clothes were still pretty damp.  That is the worst.  It is past midnight and I have to put my clothes on for another dry cycle.  Our Laundry room has one washer and one dryer, I felt bad because I knew someone had clothes ready to be thrown into the dryer.  As I was walking back upstairs, a cute girl was heading into the laundry room.  I informed her that I had to keep my clothes drying  a little longer.  Upstairs I decided to write a post-it-note for her, to put on the washer, apologizing for keeping her up an extra hour. You know, to be cute.  After a little while I was on my way down to get my clothes, when she was walking UP with my clothes in a basket.  She was bringing my clothes to me!  BUT, then she mentioned something about a boyfriend, and that was the end of our laundry room romance, haha.
This morning, I rode my new road bike to work.   Lesson learned, Santa Monica during morning traffic is not a good idea to ride on the road.  Its a flat ride, and I would rather stick to the cruiser going on and off the sidewalk when need be.  I got ran off the road several times, and there are too man freakin pot holes. I will save the road bike for when I can ride without the fear of being hit by a car.  Maybe a bike lane on Santa Monica Blvd would be nice as well. Share the Road Assholes ! haha.
Lonna comes in town tonight. She is here for the weekend and I Can't wait to show her L.A.!

Something For Everyone.. A Comedy Tonight!

Yesterday was a good day.  After work I rode over to the bike shop by my house.  Took out a couple of the used road bikes, and I found one that rode like a beauty.  So at a bargain of a price I walked ( or should I say "rode") away with a new/used Niitaka Road Bike.  I was going to post a picture but the file transfer on my phone is being shitty.  I am not a huge fan of the color (It is a royal blue), so I plan on giving it a little paint job.  I am swaying towards white, maybe with  a baby yellow fork?  So, whoever wants to go bike riding, I have a spare to go out with me!  I see Lauren raising her hand. haha.  It was fun riding the new bike home.. walking back to the shop, grabbing my cruiser, and then riding that home.  Good workout yesterday! haha.
My new Tuesday night ritual takes place at the UCB theatre.  Every tuesday night, they have a free show entitled See You Next Tuesday.  This is a show where several comedians perform, mostly strait forward standup.  Last nights show was a special treat for sure!  This particular show was packed to the brim.. forcing Caleb, Lauren and Myself to sit on stage, a couple feet from the comics looking up at them.  Of course this led to several of the comics picking on me.  Especially the first cute girl comic who totally had a thing for me, haha.  It was pretty amazing getting to see performances from Judd Apatow, special drop in comic Norm Macdonald, and an appearance from Bill Hader!  Totally AWESOME night filled with AWESOME surprises! haha.
After work today I am checking out the Old 97's in-store at Amoeba!  A little Texas pride represent!  Then its time to do mass amounts of laundry. Hooray!

In a rut....again

Well, I guess you can say I had a relapse of thought.  I am afraid to admit it, but I can't go a day without Kim on my mind. Usually, its a fleeting thought here or there. But, yesterday I was TRAPPED.  If you are into boring, ex girlfriend mumbo jumbo, please skip ahead, haha.
For the past month I have constantly been in a good mood.  I have been doing things for myself that I have never done before.  My mind has been so open and clear and positive.  I have met a lot of awesome people. Life is good.  But, yesterday was a downer.   I really missed Kim yesterday.  I don't have any desire to get back together with her...at least at the moment.  But I could not get her off of my mind...all...day....looooonnggg.  Needless to say I was pretty down.  I just need to move on . Its not like I haven't made progress, I am just not completely over it.  I know she is, and I know I should.  It's definitely easier said then done.  But, enough moping... Today is a new day.
I know once Josh is here, It will be much easier to take my mind off of her.  I keep myself busy going out every night, and I have A LOT of fun,  but that does not keep my mind from wandering.  So, it will be nice having another one of my best friends, who is into some of the things my other friends are not to keen on.
So, last night was residency night, and I decided to change up the routine a little and check out The Echo.  So, I met up with Mike and Melissa over yonder.  Never again.  The bands were lame, the crowed was lame ( this is at fault of the lame bands bringing their lame pre pubescent  audience).  But,  it is always nice hanging out with those friends.  I started getting really sleepy during the last band, so it was time to take off and hit the sack.  Next week I shall be checking out the Afternoons last night of residency.  Much awesomeness I hear.
I am realllyyy looking forward to tonight's activities!

Young at Heart

Yesterday was a day all to myself.   I also think I found a new Sunday ritual....  I woke up,  laid in bed for a little while, cleaned up around the house, called my dad,  you know Sunday stuff.  I was supposed to see several movies this weekend.. The Happening on Friday ( wasn't "happening") Reprise on Saturday ( can't think of a clever pun for not seeing this one ), So, I thought I would take action into my own hands, and go see a movie by myself.  I have wanted to see Young at Heart for quite some time.  I am a sucker for feel good documentaries.  The film just so happened to be playing at the cheap theatre across town. I don't say dollar theatre because it is actually $3.50.  So I went on a little bike ride to the theatre.  They play great indie films there, and they had "coming soon" posters for a lot of movies I want to see.  So, it was one for Young at Heart.  It was a pretty nice theatre for being the cheap theatre.  They played great music over the system. However, It did smell a little weird at first, haha.
The movie was quite enjoyable.  You cant help but keep a smile when you watch a choir consisting of the elderly (average age 80), singing The Ramones, Sonic Youth, James Brown, The Clash, etc.   And may God have mercy on your soul if you do not shed a tear during Fred Johnson's  rendition of "Fix You" by Coldplay.  Actually you should probably be shedding several tears throughout the movie or you are probably not human.  So I left having a new found respect for the elderly.  I have always found the elderly cute in a lost puppy kind of way, but this film will help you take a second look.  Even on the bike ride home, I was a lot more tolerant of the elderly slowing down my ride, haha.
I was planning on seeing ASSSSSSCAT later that night at the UCB theatre , but I was pretty exhausted from the days activities.  I just decided to ride over to taco bell, get a couple of those new Beef, Cheese and Rice burritos,  and enjoy a night in with Roxie and the Sunday night cartoons.

Happy Fathers Day!

Well, I missed writing in this blog yesterday.  How will I accurately portray the lost day?  I hope my memories are not so fleeting....

FRIDAY NIGHT:
To make up for Thursday night, I met up with Claire to go see a movie.   The Happening was playing on the Fox Lot that evening, and although I had heard terrible things about it, I was more than willing to pay free dollars to see it.  So CJ gave me his badge and what not to sneak onto the lot.  As we get there a couple informs us that it was too packed, and they would not let any more people in. The conversation ideally would have played like this:

Couple: Are you Trying to see The Happening?
Me:  Why, Yes I am fine outstanding citizens...
Couple:  Well, Its not ......"happening"...
Me: Hahahahahaha
Couple: Hahahahahaha
( we slap high five and our heads explode)
- end scene -

So, Claire and I left to go eat some tasty burritos from Chipotle.  Or, Should I say, I eat and she watches me eat... We then return to my place where we watch The Devils Backbone.  After the movie we decide to call it a night.  Its a shame we got "Friday the 13th'd" and did not get to see The Happening.  Well, fun night none the less :)

SATURDAY:
CJ and I went on out first official roommate bike ride outing ( not as gay as it sounds).   We rode around town went to Amoeba and a couple thrift stores.  I was a little exhausted afterwards. So, I decided to rest up for the evenings activities.  Tv, Shower, Cigarettes.  Then, it was time to meet up with Stephanie.  We went to a really good mexican restaurant in the Marina Del Ray area.  I think it was called Conquistador... I don't remember, but it was great. and I am fixing to finish the rest of my Taco Burrito after I publish this post.  After Dinner, we went to a "fiesta" birthday party.   This party had all the potential to be way awesome.  Tons of drinks, DJ, food, Awesome atmosphere, lights, everything you could want in a fiesta.  Unfortunately, the party did not live up to its aesthetic value.  If it were my friends, in the same environment, god have mercy on how outrageous this shindig would have been.  So we stay briefly, and decide to call it a night.

TODAY:
Today I plan on seeing a movie by myself.   Its been a long long time since I went to the theatre by myself..but, it is actually quite pleasant.  Its not like you are going to talk and hang out during the movie anyways.  So, I am going to ride across town for a little workout, catch a movie, and ride back... sounds like a great Sunday to me!

Things I am looking forward to in the next few weeks ( In order of arrival):
-Lonna's visit
- Chris's visit
- Mom's visit
- My Birthday
- Josh Moving here
- The iPhone 2

Looks like I have a busy few weeks ahead of me!

Friday the 13th..

Have you ever noticed when someone gets out of a relationship, their immediate reaction is to go to myspace/facebook, and let the world know they are single.   Not to be a hypocrite, I did it myself.  Its as if the most important thing at the moment is to show your dating status just in case someone stumbles upon your paige with intent on forming a future relationship with  you.  At least I know thats why I did it, haha.

So, last night I went to go meet my buddy at the Cha Cha.  He had been there for a few hours by the time I arrived.  So I get a drink ( which is rare for me, but it felt like one of those nights I guess, haha) and we sit at  the bar and hang out.  He informs me if he does not leave, some craziness may brew.  I guess he was more drunk then he appeared to be.. So he left to go to his car and proceed to take a little nap.  That left me alone at the bar...well not completely alone,  I had my beer and a copy of the L.A. Record. Its hard for me to see why people go to a bar alone..maybe if a drank more I would find the reasoning.

Last night was the LAST NIGHT Mister Lonely was playing at the dollar theatre near my place.  I was supposed to go with my new friend Claire, but some complications arose and that did not happen.  I was a little bummed that I missed seeing the movie, but we are making it up tonight..as long as there are no more complications, haha.  But who knows... It is Friday the 13th.....oooooooooo.....

P.S.  If you are really into super fuckin mega creepy dudes... I heard Troy got dumped, Check out Troy's Mixtape of Love , take my advice and listen to the whole thing!  I am listening to it as I type, and its making me sick...literally..... haha.

Funny Bone

I just received a funny phone call here at work. So, yesterday we had a crazy day.  It was a constant car circus, running around moving our cars all day to make room for the clients.  I rode over to our remote parking lot with the receptionist, Erin. On the way, she backed up from a stop sign into a car.   This was the tiniest bump in the history of fender benders.  If it wasnt for a woman getting out of the other car, I would have never even noticed we hit anyone.  Anyways, I just got a phone call from her insurance company asking if I was "ok."  I guess its their job to ask, but its like hitting my funny bone on my desk, and he doctor calling to see If I am ok...  After typing this, I realized this story is not funny.  Please disregard anything you may have just read.

Last Night after work  I did a little goodwill shopping.. I was mainly looking for bikes, but they did not have much in that department.  I have been looking at craigslist lately for a road bike.  The road bike would be my weekday bike, and the cruiser my weekend, take to the beach, bike.  I just need something for long long distance riding.  Something to take me through hills as well.

Later, I went over to Trevors for Birthday celebration day 3.  It involved Friends, Beer Pong,  Catchphrase, and Cigarettes.   Good times.

Not Much...

Not much has happened in the past day.  But, I am extremely dedicated to writing in this blog, I will write regardless.  If future me is reading this entry, feel free to skip past this chapter.

Yesterday after work I decided to get in a little exercise before my monday night ritual at Spaceland.  So I whip out the exercise ball ( disregard how that sounds), and CJ's perfect push up things.  I do a short little work out, then it is time to shower and go out.  I started the night at Spaceland, and caught a couple good bands.  I was happy to be surprised by Mike and Mel showing up.  It was good getting to hang out with them for a little while.  Then it was off to Barneys for Karaoke.  When I told a girl at Spaceland I was heading over to Barneys, she called it a frat bar.  She asked " Why would you want to go to a frat bar? you are not the frat type.." Barney's is a every person bar. People can be judgmental I guess, myself included...But, I am working on it!  My friend Kate runs karaoke there on Monday nights, so it used to be a ritual that all my "OU" friends meet every monday.  I am happy to start this tradition again.  It was a jovial time.

Work has been crazy busy today.  I cannot wait to get out of here.  Only a couple more hours to go.  I am watching the second hand.

Sleep Deprived Party Weekend 2008

BIKES
Saturday was CJ's big day to purchase a bike.  We checked out a bike shop in Burbank, and they had some pretty cool bikes.  Quite pricey however! So, I recommended we check out Sports Authority, you know, just to see what they have going on in the bike department.  We spent what seemed an eternity in there little selection of bikes.  There was a little emerald green number that caught CJs' eye.  It had a great "sale" sticker on it.  Half  off to be exact.   And, after a little bit of debating over the inventory.. CJ decided this was the bike for him... And we were off.  It's weird spending soooo much time in one tiny section of a giant store.  As we were heading towards checkout,  It felt weird passing by so much neglected stock.  I almost forgot where I was for a moment.  So, this my friends, is the story of CJs' California bike purchase adventure.

TREVORS' BIRTHDAY
When I got back home from bike shopping, it was time for me to ride over to Trevors' birthday BBQ.  When I first arrived, it was pre party and not too many people there..  I was unsure how the party would turn out.  For the first hour or 2 it was a little slow...But, I guess it was still pre-party hour.  It did not take long after that to get things flowing.  A LOT of new faces showed up.  I have a problem of judging people too quickly based on their appearance.  But just as the fraternity party on Friday night, I met some really cool people I normally would avoid.   Maybe alcohol may induce such kindness?  I did spend 45 minutes talking to this dude about luxury watches....None the less, we partied, and partied hard at that...partied until the sun came up.  It has been a long while since I partied until the sun came up. I always hate the feeling of going to sleep with the sun rising.  It leads to blah day, which brings us to yesterday.

SWIM PARTY
This swim party was something I had been looking forward to for a while.... A Beverly Hills swim party in the hollywood hills.  I took my friend Stephanie.  When we arrived there were no cars, so I though something was up.  I guess I thought we were arriving fashionably late, but I wasn't in-store for how fashionable the other guests would be... It was a beautiful house, with a gorgeous pool and backyard, and perfect sunday weather.  Slowly over the next hour people began to trickle in.  I knew very few people there, but I was ready to make new friends as I did all weekend!  The crowed pretty much consisted entirely of "hipsters".   In L.A. there are 2 type of hipsters.  So far, all I have conversed with are the super friendly nice hipsters...BUT these were the OTHER hipsters... hipsters who have money and/or like to exclude everyone.  These my friends, are the douche-bag hipsters...  We tried talking to several people only to get the cold shoulder.  They like to talk to their friends, and if you are not their friend, you better get the hell out of their way!  These people have no interest in meeting someone new.  Needless to say, that encouraged a faster exit.  At least the food was AMAZING! Thank you AJ.

But, I can't complain too much.  This was an exceptional weekend with old friends and new ones!  I just could of used a little more sleep, haha.

Dude...Bro... Frat Party!

So last night, I went with Stephanie, Joe, and Dingus (in town from Florida), to a frat party in the Marina Del Ray area.  I am going to start off my saying it was much much much more fun then I would have ever expected.  The neighborhood was beautiful with mutli million-dollar beach front homes.  I always enjoy any opportunity I have to go to these homes, because they are just so damn cool.  haha.  When we arrived, it looked to be your typical frat party, with guys playing beer pong, girls in promiscuous outfits (even in the cold), everyone pretty wasted.  This was at 10 o' clock... where I come from, parties don't even begin until midnight practically.   So, it was a little bit of an awkward start at first.  There were tons of people and I felt a little like an alien.  But, after a few minutes into it,  I realized how nice everyone was.  I had so many different people come up and talk to me.  I think the tattoos were the attention getter, haha.  I was not really expecting, or used to, being approached by so many people wanting to meet me.  It was pretty rad.  So, we stayed for a little while, met cool people, had good conversation (always one of my favorite things), and even saw a boobie, haha.  After the party, we ate a late night dinner at this place called Du-Par.  Its a little 24 hour diner at the grove on fairfax.. Decent food, kind of a weird ambiance.  I don't see myself eating there anytime soon.  So, In conclusion, A great evening!  I have been having a lot of those lately... and, it only continues tonight with Trevors' birthday party, and tomorrow with the Beverly Hills Swim Party.

Friday, Friday, Friday!

This week went by incredibly fast.. and that rules, because there are many things I am looking forward to this weekend!  My body feels a little tired at the moment. I have been riding my bike to work this week, and a lot at night.  That is a recipe for sore arms and legs.  But it is so so so so much better than driving.  I love my bike, and I cannot wait to get another.  I hope to get one this weekend at some point. A street bike that would make it easy to get around the city.  Then, I could use my cruiser as my weekend bike for the beach.

FILMMAKING
Last night after work, I met up with Lauren at a coffee shop in Silverlake.  We met to discuss film projects we would like to begin.  Let me tell you, it doesn't come as easy as it used to.  Maybe I am out of practice, I don't know.  I just really , really, really, want to do something creative.  So we talked a little, and I think we came up with an idea that will really work.  Three words..BABY...BANK.... ROBBER.   OK, thats not the real idea..but I really do think we may have a spark to get things rolling.  I do not consider myself much of a writer, so I am putting the script in Lauren's hands.  Hopefully, and I think there will, be something to see soon!

MUSTACHES
After our meeting, we met up with Two mustachioed men at this dive bar in Hollywood.  This place was a downer, so we decided to go to the Cha Cha.  I am not sure what to think of these 2 guys.  Mike and "Magnum".  Mike is friends with Lauren, and "Magnum" is friends with Mike.  They were all about their mustaches.  Apparently they had been drinking all day, so I did not get a good first impression of them. The Cha Cha was really fun.  We played a couple games of foosball and met some nice people, we had good times to say the least.  Taking home the mustaches was a mess though. They were pretty drunk and had a difficult time at first figuring out where they lived. At this point I was ready to get some sleep.

I think tonight I am going to a college party with Stephanie.  Oh to be young again, haha.

Mood Swings

Its so weird how I can go from low to high so fast...  I have been in great spirits for the past month, until this morning.  Talking to Kim realllllly bummed me out.  I realize there is no future there.  I am moving on, its over, I am done.  Needless to say I was pretty down after out conversation.  Then, I talk to my buddy Josh.  He informs me he is moving out here in 2-3 weeks.  This is amazing news!  He is one of my best friends from back home, and I know having him here will just keep me happy.  Most of my guy friends in L.A. are in relationships, making it hard to hang out a lot of the time.  And, for him to move here out of the blue..is just, well... Amazing! haha.

Last night was the first night I came home from work and just crashed... I have been going nonstop for a month, and I was tired to say the least, haha.  I woke up right before CJ got home.   CJ and I had the longest conversation we have had in quite some time.  It was great having a night in, and getting an opportunity to hang out with my roomate like that.  We talked about many things.. One of the most exciting, is his decision to get a bike!  Bike buddies anyone?

I am feeling amazing right now, and it only goes up from here.

Cigarette Mouth

I have a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know why I started smoking again... It leaves such an awful aftertaste.  You feel cool while you are smoking, then afterwards you just feel bleh..haha.  I guess when I started feeling better about me health, I felt well enough to smoke. One of the main reasons I quit smoking was my ever present, self diagnosed panic disorder. Even though I don't even come close to what I used to smoke, I am still going to try to maintain my nicotine intake.  So I type this entry with dry mouth and semi-bad breath.

DATING
Last night I went on my first date since Kim and I broke up.  I am not looking for anything seriousness by any means...but it is nice to go out on dates I guess... and it was a great time!  This was with Stephanie, the cute girl I met at Barneys.  We began the night at the 101 Cafe.  A really nice diner off of Franklin.  Pleasant atmosphere, littered with Los Feliz hipsters for some reason.. The dinner was a continuation of a giant food themed day ( first being the pancakes, see pic below).  Stephanies' grilled chicken sandwich was almost comical how big it was.  It was pretty much a whole chicken on a bun.  I got a turkey burger with some out of this world mashed potatoes.  Delicious.  Afterwards, we headed over to the UCB theatre.  We had a little time to kill before the show, so we checked out a little bookstore that seemed really cool, and I am sure I will be paying another visit to soon.   The show at UCB was called "See You Next Tuesday".  It is a free show they do every tuesday night.  I love going to that theatre because it is so intimate and they always have at least "good" comics.  Last night they had several different acts, including; Eddie Peppertone ( Last Comic Standing) , Rob Hubel ( Human Giant), and a special drop in performance from Janine Garofalo.  I got in some good hardy laughs throughout the evening.  It was a late show that ran till 1am.  Needless to say, I was quite sleepy after the show.  So, Overall a great night of food, comedy, and good company.  But I am certain my dating life from this point will remain casual until an undisclosed time.haha.

FRIENDSHIP
I was told by a certain friend yesterday that they need to take a break from me... It is hard because this is the person I hung out with more than anyone out here.  I guess I understand the reasoning, but it doesn't make it easier.  This was my firs Friend "dump"/trial seperation.. it's a little weird.

Well, I am completely exausted. 2 nights of little sleep takes a toll on you.  The day has just begun, and I will be zombie walking through this one...

WORLDS BIGGEST PANCAKE!

This was my lunch today .... 3 OREO Pancakes!

Past my Bedtime

Late night last night..  Surprisingly , I am not really feeling it this morning.  I feel quite great actually!  Yesterday was a feel good day. After an easy day of work, that just seemed to zip by, I rode my bike over to my friend AJ's.  It was good getting to hang out with her, although brief.  She is one of the first friends I made when I moved out here, and I would like to see her more often for sure.  So, after our hang out session, I rode back home.  From there I went to Spaceland and checked out some band.  I do not remember their name, but it was 3 cute girls and a dude.  I was shocked at how good they were!  Kind of reminded me of Flaming Lips meets Dismemberment Plan.  While at the club, Bernie calls me and informs me that people are meeting at Barney's Beanery.  I was stoked for this, because that is something that used to be a Monday night ritual, that we have not done in quite some time.  So after Spaceland, I head over to Barneys.  Great times there.  Annnnd, on the plus side, I met a cute girl ;)  For a while I felt like no one could ever compare to Kim... I guess I am starting to realize there are, as cliche as it is "other fish in the sea".  After Barneys we headed back to Trevors' neighbors place where we played pool, ate mac and cheese, and established general fun.  Got home around 3, which I have not done in a while, being the old man I am.  So, I feel that the great night is leading into great day!  I think Trevor and I are going to try to see the Dana Carvey secret standup show tonight...hope we get in...

The Lonely Weekend

Since Saturday night I have had an overwhelming feeling of loneliness...  It is probably attributed to non stop action for the past 3 weeks.   I have been doing something to keep me occupied all day and night starting about 3 weeks ago, then I hit a brick-wall of nothingness.  I don't mind hanging out by myself at all.. in fact often times it is quite enjoyable. But, I felt a little pathetic/lonely not doing anything Saturday night.  I reached the point where at 10 o clock, I just hopped on my bike a rode around for a little while... it wore me out to where I was easily ready to fall asleep.

Same goes for yesterday.  I rode my bike around during the day, looking for new sunglasses, to replace the ones that I had foolishly left at a BBQ last Monday.  My plan for the day was to go see Mr. Lonely (ironic)  at the Dollar theatre....thats all I really had for that day.  Instead I picked up Lauren from the airport.  I did not mind at all because she is my very good friend and she helped me move before.  I am glad that she is back in town.  Now we can finally put some movies into motion!  On the way back to my house, I grabbed some taco bell ( a huge meal under 3 bucks ( read previous post about new 79 cent menu)).  I ate, watched some dvds and went to sleep.  I tossed and turned all night.  I could not stop thinking of someone....
