Are There Any Other Themes That I am Missing?
Thursday Night, I finally Went to go see Batman. I picked up Jessica from Ketchup, headed over to the Grove, got some quick chipotle (yum!), and headed over to the theatre. The lights started dimming, and we were the only ones in the theatre. We thought we TRULY were the last people to see The Dark Knight. But as the previews roll, more people show up. Anyways, I am not going to review the movie.. It was hard for me to judge because somewhere around the 2nd hour at 1 in the morning, I became sleepy and dozed in and out of sleep. It is quite difficult for me to do late night movies..haha. All I thought is that it was a good film. Not INCREDIBLE , as it was hyped up to be. Maybe, I should have seen it before the hype.
Yesterday after work, Natalie and I went to a Screening of Appaloosa . I really enjoyed this one. I am normally not huge into westerns, but recently I have seen some that I quite like. The cast was great. Renee Zelwegger looked scary as shit! The story was cool. Overall a pleasurable move watching experience. Afterwards there was a Q and A with writer/director/star Ed Harris. The Moderator for the Q and A was so awful that he made the whole process awkward for the entire theater. When the audience was asking questions, it kind of reminded me of the idiots in film school who would try to show off their knowledge by trying to make points and ask "intelligent" questions, but always ended up looked like a complete tool.
After the Movie, I headed over to the Red House.. hung out. Went to Little Joy... Hung out. Drove Through Mc Donalds.. watched some Simpsons, and passed out!

Nunna Nunna Nunna Nunna Nunna Nunna Nunna Nunna BATMAN
So, here I wait. Patiently. Tonight I am going on a Batman date with Jessica. Neither one of us has yet to see Batman ( I know, what the hell has taken so long?) So, we are going to go, and go BIG. IMAX baby.
I almost forgot to update today. Apparently, there are some people who feel I spend a little too much time on the internet at work. So I am trying to curve that problem.
Last night was a weird one. It was loud. and at points, Obnoxious .
The night started with my friend Wendy (Whitney) calling me and surprising me with her presence in town for the evening. I picked her up from her friends. Waited for about an hour to go out to Barrigans and eat dinner .. She got a headache, I took her home before the festivities.
Tristan met at my place. Him, Myself and Joddee , preceded onto Barrigans. With a Taco Bell stop on the way... haha. Barrigans was cool. Saw some of my new friends. And my friend Thessa and her friends joined us for the evening as well. I had a margarita. A frozen one. They told me Frozen Margaritas were for "Pussies".
After Barrigans we went to Little Joy. Here I saw Kim Gordon, of Sonic Youth. She was a lil drunk it seems. We called it a night. It was hard for me to deal with Obnoxious people acting Drunk. That is correct.
Cigarette. Batman.
p.s. I am trying a more free style of writing. Adding Punctuation and capitalization where I feel.

Try Not to Die Like a Dog.
Last night was the Red House Cinema presentation of "O' Lucky Man."
The Story of a young man trying to become a success in the United Kingdom during the early 70s. I am not going to go into a lengthy review, but it was a great film. At A running time of nearly 3 hours, it is not your typical comedic format. And although, the film was lengthy, I cannot think of any moments I would have cut out.
Malcom McDowell plays the "title" character, Travis. This film was released the same year as A Clockwork Orange. Alan Price ( of Animals fame ) provides the soundtrack to the film, done in the style of a greek chorus. At one point he becomes involved in the story crossing over the diegetic sound. Actors show up throughout the film playing often times, multiple characters. Even an instance of an actor playing another characters entirely in black face.
The film was quite humorous. It reminded me a lot of the film/musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Of Course, sans musical numbers... Although the film did incorporate Price's music quite nicely.
I highly recommend this one, pretty much for any filmgoer. Just make sure to take breaks if you are known to become antsy!

Dooooooon't Smile
I talked to my mom yesterday. Apparently Galveston is completely demolished. She has currently re located to Corpus Christi for the time being. It seems like its just one bad thing after another for her. Her city was destroyed by a hurricane, her phone fried while lost on the way to Corpus, and her TV blew up at her hotel. It reminds me of the scene in Amazon Women on the Moon, during Arsenio Hall's sketch, where awful, yet funny, shit keeps happening to him. Its not really that funny when it happens to my mom though... She does not know when or if she can return home... if there is a home to return to.
ANYWAYS,
Natalie took me to this really sweet store yesterday, that is stocked full of American Apperal clothing for super cheap! I got a t-shirt, 3 really nice cardigan jacket thingies, and a t-shirt hoodie, for around 1/5 ( maybe even 1/6) of what it would normally cost!
Afterwards, we went to the Apple store, Jamba Juice, Best Buy, Target. Basically made a giant square around town.
My buddy Matt was playing a show at the Crane Tavern. He said he was to play around 9:30. So we get there at 9. Its a really cool place, that I never even knew existed. AND, to top off the beautiful patio and pleasant atmosphere, they have 1 dollar beers from 9 - 10 ! This is a great place to grab a drink before the night "officially" begins. They also have free, live music the majority of the week! Hoo-rah!
So, Matt does not play at 9:30...he does not play at 10....he does no play at 10:30.....he does not play at 11..... he FINALLY gets the show on the road at 11:30! So we were basically there for 2 and a half hours, before any excitement began. But, its ok. Matt was REALLY AWESOME! He is a great songwriter, and I look forward to seeing the full band.
Really Fun day/night!
I have a feeling this week is going to be filled to the brim with good times :)

You. Oh You. When You Do Those Things You Do.
What a fun night. I broke through my sickness to travel outside of Los Angeles County for the first time since I moved here. My friends The Rocket Summer, were playing a show in Anaheim. I was on the guest list and I did not have to drive. The perfect combination for attending a musical event. So, I traveled across city lines with Jodee, Ashli, Jessica, Kitty, and Kelly. Yes, A car full of young ladies and myself. I did not freak out, I just relaxed and zoned out when the "milk fest" ( I was informed of the phrase last night), got too hormonal.
So, after about half an hour in the car.. we arrive at The Grove in Anaheim. Located right next to Angel Stadium. The Grove in Anaheim is not a mall, like the one we have on Fairfax and 3rd, but a HUGE music complex. Walking into the venue, I made a comment on how I felt the venue was too big for the band. Later on, Bryce made the same comment. There were a good amount of people... maybe close to a 1000. But, the venue mitigated the crowed of Tweens and Teens.
We arrived in time to watch The Secret Handshake. An acquaintance of mine from Dallas. Then went outside to have a smoke, and met up with Seth. Seth and I ended up talking outside through Phantom Planets set, so I missed them. It was getting close for the time for TRS to play. So , Seth invited me on stage to watch the show.
Looking out at the sea of faces from the side of the stage made me miss playing music more than anything thus far. I think the hardest part about playing music in LA is having a practice space. Few people have homes to practice in, and you cant very well practice in apartments. Practice spaces are expensive. As, soon as I have an available place to play music.. I would love to take hold of that opportunity.
After the show, Ashli had the bright idea to go to Sonic for a late dinner. I have not seen a Sonic since I have moved out here, and was gung ho. The waitress informed us that the Sonic we were eating at was the ONLY ONE in California. She mentioned there were at one point 3 Sonics, but the other two had burned down... haha.
We drove back to LA, and I went to bed. I would like to thank everyone who made last night such a great evening. I am also excited to get to hang out with TRS guys on Saturday! This time in my neck of the woods...
Tonight I am going to Milos' wedding. Which means I get to dress up AND leave work early! Good day!

Lets SKIP the introduction ....
I must muster up enough strength to type this entry. I am sickly, and there are a number of sources who may of caused me this grief. I have been drinking plenty of OJ at work, and eating fruit ( is fig newton a fruit?). I was just mentioning the other day to someone, how rarely I get sick. I forgot to find some wood in the surrounding area... Now that I think about it, I only blame myself..and superstitions.
So despite my sickness last night. I felt the necessity to work out. So after work, I went on my hour long bike ride, and came home to my Yoga Ball exercise routine. I bet that kind of stress is probably not good for me at the moment. Oh well. wah wah waahhhh.
Last Night was Barrigans Night. It was especially special since Sarah and Jacob are in town from Portland. It was really nice to see them. I had only met Jacob once previously. But I remember thinking he was a great guy. So, we crammed about 10 people into a 5 person booth, and enjoyed some cheap margaritas.. Naturally Lil Joy and Short Stop followed. An Odd girl at the Short Stop approached me, a little flirtatious , and for some reason, would not stop using puns when she spoke! Anyways, I was feeling a little "not so great", so I called the night at 1, and came home to a delicious sandwich and Willy Wonka, and Sleep.
My Rowing Machine is supposed to arrive today! Hooray! Give me 6 weeks, and I will be in the best shape of my life! Sans smoking and taco bell....

Mustache
Well, nothing t0o eventful to talk about. I took it east last night. Had Pizza and Crazy Bread with Kim, went home, and fell asleep around 10. Which is GREAT! Because, I am a little sickly, and some good ol' fashioned sleep, was totally called for. A Busy week begins Tonight. And, Sarah comes in town today, so I am happy to see her :)

Hello Sweet Butterfly
I am starting to get sick. Everyone around me has been sick, or is getting sick. I mocked them for being sick. It's all relative. It mocks me.
Last night I went to Spaceland with Neal for the Residency show. Still Dios Malos, and still a great band. One of the bands opening up was a band I really enjoy but have never had the privilege to see, The Radar Bros. Beautiful music, but it was hard to stay focused with the jackasses ballroom dancing in front of me. Seriously.. Handlebar Mustache and Eye liner, with a Womans Sparkly Sweater circa 1986? laaaaaaame.
Tonight is movie night at Neals. I would like to go, but I also feel I should have a night in. I have a long week/weekend. And, with my verge of sickness.. it would probably be best I stay home and do laundry, and rest up.
Cough, Cough

I feel. Like I should be writing about my feelings and emotions in this thing. It is pretty dull as is. But, I gues thoe whole purpose for starting this BLOG is to recall when I do on a daily basis. Seeing, that my memory is so terrible. But, I feel like my feelings and emotions should be incorporated into my daily remembrance. Then, again, I do not know how comfortable I feel sharing my true thoughts and feelings in the public....
The END

This Isn't Worth 10 Dollars...
I feel so refreshed today. I was home by 12:30 last night, and asleep by 1. Its odd to call that early, but it felt great! I am alive again!
Last night, Myself, Tristan, Corrine, Joddee, and Paulene went out to eat at one of my favorite LA restaurants, Bossa Nova. I had my usual. A burrito only comparable to the glory that is a chipotle burrito. Unfortunately, last night, the Burrito was not prepared with the most care, and we had separation between the chicken and the rest of the elements. I perfer my Burrito, shaken.. not stirred.
After Dinner we headed over to Neals, for a re-scheduled movie night. Last nights screening was Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill. It was a very fun movie! Well, at least from what I saw of it. I kind of kept falling asleep throughout the feature. I put the blame on the great outdoors, and the food in my gut. After we hopped across the street to Joy, where we stayed only for a moment. Everyone was tired, and we needed a good night of sleep for the weekend.
I think today is our last day of work at the old office. Next week we will be heading down the block to our new location. I will miss this building. The new building is pretty awesome as well, but this one has more Plasma TVs... haha.
I have been totally thrown off by Labor Day. I feel a day behind real time. But its Friday! and there are some fun things going on this weekend!
p.s. I decided today I am going to be a poet. look forward to my work!

Mustache: Gone, But Not Forgotten
MUSTACHE 2008-2008
Lets all have a silent moment in remembrance of my mustache. He wasn't the strongest of mustaches. Maybe, some would not even quite call it a mustache. Those would tease and call him names such as "scum-stache" or "molest-stache". But, he was never phased by such mockery. He grew strong and proud. Unfortunately, his time came too early, and now he is gone. But the mustaches lasting impression will be emplazed in our hearts and souls 4ever.
We mustn't hang out heads in sorrow. We mustn't shed a tear. For this face believes in resurrection! This face will not forget! This face will force a growth bigger, faster, and stronger.
Although my nationality was constantly questioned, kisses made awkward, and my age progressed, these are not reasons for execution. I apologize to you, my mustache. I forward it to a moment of weakness.
Need not be necessary to wait and see you again. I am patient, and will watch you grow with every new day. A lesson was learned. It is not forgotten.
Mustache. This is for you.

Calling All The Lightning Rods
Centro-Matic ( one of my favorite bands of all time ) was in town last night, playing at Spaceland. And, guess what blogger was in attendance.... ME! Centro side project South San Gabriel opened up the show, and it was simply beautiful. I am so glad they chose to open the show with the side project. It is pretty much the equivalent of getting to see Centro-Matic twice! After SSG, Jim Ward's (At The Drive In, Sparta) new band played. I was in the back room smoking and talking to friends, so I missed their entire set. I did not really have a desire to see them anyways... haha. Finally it was time for Centro-Matic. Amazing show like always. They played songs spanning almost all their previous albums. It was very comforting to see them. I just wish there was a bigger audience to support this awesome band! Thank you Centro-Matic for making my week!

Los Angeles Bunny Ranch Pub Crawl : The Weekend Wrap Up ( Labor Day Edition )
I hate beginning every entry with how exhausted I am . So, I am going to begin todays Blog with a Children's Joke ...
What Did the Chewing Gum say to the Shoe?
..
..
..
..
" I'm stuck on you "
wah wah waaaaaaaaaah
So this weekend was NUTS. I wish I had the motivation to type in detail about the weekends festivities, but instead I will do a short sentence wrap up. Some parts are a little hazy, mainly due to my present exhaustion, and my ever lasting bad memory. But feel free to ask for the details... haha
FRIDAY:
- Don't Really Remember where the night began...
- Met up with some peeps at the Red House, and proceeded to do the usual... Little Joy ( which by the way, just found out, the drummer from the Strokes named his new band after this hole in the wall establishment. Thanks Entertainment Weekly)
- Met Some Girls, and Went with them to an After Party when the bar closed. It was a beautiful house in Echo Park, With an amazing back yard patio. We then through around the idea of hitting up an "after" after party in the hills, but it was already 4am at this point, and way passed my bed time.
- Super Long Night. Over.-
SATURDAY:
- Hung out with Christina. Went to the Bike Shop and replaced my rear wheel. Ate some McDonchers. Went to Buffalo and visited Tristan. Watched some TV. Then Christina headed back to the OC.
- Met up with Tristan after he got out of work, and we went an ate at Happy Toms. Both our first experience at Happy Toms, and both of us ate with approval.
(at this point, I am checking my text log to refresh my memory of where the night took us... Just realized, That the end of FRIDAYS entry was actually what I did SATURDAY entry... So Move it to here ---> ... Now I cant recall what I did Friday night.. Curse my terrible memory! )
SUNDAY:
- Cleaned Around the House
- Met with Lauren to pick up some of her belongings, and switch Cars back.
- Hung around the house for a bit
- Went to Cha Cha / Little Joy ( where I ran into a waitress, who I noticed at some Nike after party, a little while ago.. Spent most of the night talking to her. We then proceeded to the Grocery Store after the Bar closed, proceeded to have some late night snackage consisting of pizza rolls and peanut butter cup ice cream. The Sun was up, so she left and I slept. Going to sleep with the sun already out, is the worst feeling in the world! by the way.. haha)
MONDAY (Labor Day):
- BBQ @ Neals (delicious)
- BBQ @ Chelsea and Leigha's
- Spaceland for a short amount of time. Caught some of Dios Malos, pretty good man, if I do say so...
- met the neighbors and Jared Paul at some "private party" at a pretty lame bar.
- Met up with Just Long, Har Mar Superstar, and Kear O'Donnel at Good Luck. There was this dude sitting with us who looked familiar. From some band, but I could not recall...then I saw Karen O' and I realized that it was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs...
- Got a text from a dude that he was having people over at his place in the Hills, so after the bar closed, The Neighbors, Justin, Har Mar, and Kear and myself headed over to the after party..
- Stayed out too late, and am now too sleepy
That about wraps it up! Tonight Centro-Matic is playing at Spaceland. I really wanna go, and probably will! Hooray!

"Is this a Strip Club?"
What a weird night. We explored new grounds. We explored uncharted territory. We were K Town!
We met at Tristans around nine. Joddee, Myself, and Neal. I was already getting way sleepy at this point, and the night had yet to begin. If only I knew what was in store.... haha. So, we decided to walk down to Frank N' Hanks (this was only our first walk of the bipedal evening). The bar was reminiscent of what seemed to be old school Hollywood . Back from the era of Hollywood glamour. It was small, and the dartboard and jukebox took up the majority of the room. There we met Morgan, Ingrid, and Nicole . While we were there, Joddee's friend, was kind enough to send us a pizza to the bar, from wherever he was at! It was way rad! Thank You to whoever you are... haha. So we stay for a little bit, and walk towards some sea-themed Bar attached to a hotel ( I am not sure if it was a hotel or apartments, but definitely a hotel at some point in time).
We all agreed to walk there, not knowing how far the trek would be... We walk for about 15-20 minutes, and arrive at the deserted bar. It was dead dead dead. We had a drink and got out of there. At this point it was already a weird vibe walking around K town dead on a Thursday night. There were talks of Karaoke, but we opted to walk back to Tristans instead.. it was 1 and we had a 20 minute walk ahead of us.
During the long walk back, the gang continued to get distracted, wanting to head into the shadiest of Bars. The oddest one l was probably " Temptation: Bara Latina ", Which in fact was NOT a strip club, but some other hispanic dive. Tristan described it best, as we walked in "it was like an old fashioned western, where everyone stops talking and stares at us as we walk through the saloon doors". So, we got the hell out of there post haste. Made it back, went home, and went to sleep.
Overall, a very odd night. I guess because we were away from the usual stomping ground. The feelings linger on into today....

Oh to Cats and Mice...
I start with work. I never speak of work in my blog, because there is nothing really new and exciting to talk about. But, Yesterday...oh dear, Yesterday....
I was promoted from a Production Assistant a couple months ago. I was so relieved that I would never have to to PA work again... well at least at this job. However, Yesterday, I was able to relive the PA experience with a shit ton of manual labor. You see, we have been combining our 2 offices ( Hollywood and Santa Monica) into one Hollywood location. So, owning a minivan, I was asked by one of the PA's to help move some Ikea furniture...but oh it was so much more. I wont go into detail, but we did spend over 10 hours moving heavy boxes back and forth across town. I thought that there would be no way to survive going out last night, after such heavy feats. But, I mustard the strength and had a GREAT night.
Started the night out by meeting Tristan, Jason, Neal, and Chris at Barrigans. This was probably the first Mens night out in a while, or the first one I can remember hanging out with "the group" . We stayed at Barrigans for a while, enjoying the 2 buck Margaritas. We spotted a couple girls who were really cute, but we were afraid to approach. Tristan is usually a stong helper of introducing us to the opposite sex, and he tried.
Afterwards we headed to the Gold Room for about 3 minutes. Probably the cheesiest bar I have ever been to. It was 1984 all over again. And, I am pretty sure the cheese ball factor was not ironic. haha
After, We head to Little Joy, and Jason and I spot the 2 respective girls we thought were cute. It took a potential "gang war" outside, to initiate conversation. So I introduced myself to the girls. I think they were a little inebriated at this point. They were from Utah, and cute drunk. Only problem is, they had guys barricading themselves around them. I think they were in the friend zone, but the guys did not realize. So Jason and I spend a good majority of the night trying to talk to the girls. The guys were just putting on too much pressure, and made things too difficult to talk. At the end of the night, I swapped numbers with the girls. In their state of mind while under the influence, writing down the phone number she added an extra digit. So, we left the bar with a 3 digit area code and an 8 digit phone number. Hopefully they will be the ones calling me.... haha
Man! Cannot wait for the 3 day weekend! FAAAAAAAANTASTIC

BUNNY
I cut my hair. Its short. I look a little douchey . See Myspace "2008" for a picture.
After the movie,a group of us headed across the street to Little Joy to hang for a bit. Tristan was convinced it was gay night. I denied it at first, but as he pointed out the bar patrons, I could see he was right. How odd of Little Joy to have a gay night, whether it be official, or un-official.
Tonight, I really want to get my rower, since I did not last night. It is also Barrigans Night, and we may venture to the Gold Room. Yes.

Row Row Row
Not much to write home about. Last night I went to Spaceland. I caught an acoustic act who was pretty good, but ended on a lousy note with a dumb song about Pirates. haha. I ran into my friend Summer. It was good seeing her, and I wish I saw her more often. I stayed for an hour or so before it started getting fuller. Then I was off to meet Tristan at Little Joy. Heading out of Spaceland I saw Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley, The Elected) hanging out by himself, sans Wynonna Rider. I was then informed they broke up last week. Which means she is available.......haha.
I met Tristan, hung out at Little Joy for a lil' bit. Headed over to Short Stop for a smoke, and called it a night. A pretty un productive evening.
I decided I want to get a rowing machine. It is supposed to be an awesome full body workout. I have always enjoyed using those, and it is something I can use for longs amount of time while watching TV or a movie. The rowing machine reminds me of my Dad. I remember him getting one when I was young, that I loved playing on , and he never used. haha. I have been on an exercise kick, and I am doing pretty well. I use one of those giant workout ball things daily, and am using CJ's perfect pushups. Plus, the cardio from my bike riding is good . A Rowing machine will be a welcome addition, and I know I would use it every day after work. Thats what is cool. I have reached the point in my workout, where I do it everyday, without having to push things out of the way. It is now routine. SO, maybe I will check out my rowing options at Sports Authority or some place tonight.
After my rowing mission, it is movie night at Neals. Good times!

"Is Your Name Jasepy?" The Weekend Wrap UP
Somebody stole the bike light and left handlebar off my cruiser. What is somebody going to do with my bikes left handle bar? What an idiot... ANYWAYS, I had a very long and eventful weekend! Time to wrap it up.
FRIDAY:
- Hung out with Lauren, Tristan, Neal, Neals' Friend, Jodee, Ingrid, and Ingrids friend
- Checked-out the neighborhood Bar a block over from my place. It was really nice and low lit. And oddity in the neighborhood. We did not learn to much from it, except that it was called "Temporary Spaces" and maybe has potential to be cool?
- We Headed downtown to Bar 107, stayed briefly, then decided to leave downtown
- Hit up the Little Joy and Short Stop
- Ate a very Very late dinner @ Freds in Los Feliz
SATURDAY:
Hung out with Christina
- Took my Bike in the shop ( already broken) :(
- Ate Taco Bell
- Watched some AFV
- Did some Laundry
- Ate at the most open and spacious BK Lounge of alllll time
- Went to a BBQ/Show at some DIY venue, that was TOTTTALY AWESOME! I would love to book some shows there, just because the place was so rad. Favorite place to see music thus far in L.A. It also really really made me want to play music again. Look for that soon? haha
- Little Joy/ Short Stop
- Neals' Fantastic Party! (Pictures on Myspace)
SUNDAY:
- Dollar Movie with Lauren (The Visitor. Not so great) ( Oh yeah, there was also a terrible, laughable, and super long commercial at the the theatre for the army featuring Kidd Rock. Try to find it on youtube if you can)
- UCB Theater for the Rock N' Roll Performance of ASSSSSSCAT
- Sandwich supplies at the Grocery Store
- Last Comic Standing with CJ
- Sleep
This weekend was never ending, and it was fantastic! I had fun with everyone!

"We Were Epic"
I had no desire to go out last night. But, as I was leaving work my friend Abby called. She is in town with her boyfriend, and I had not seen her in forever. So, naturally I wanted to take them out and show them a good time! You know.. show dem da hood.
We started the night off at The Cha Cha. Well, it was Tristan, his roommate, and Jodee. Tristan ran into one of his friends Molly. I recognized Molly right away. If you are at all familiar with the Defamer website, you know Molly as the girl who makes the "to do" videos. Anyways, she was really cool, and her "husband" very nice as well. Abby and Brandon arrived at the Cha Cha, and a line had formed at this point. So rather than have them wait, we headed over to Little Joy.
It was great getting to hang out with Abby. It has been a while since I have seen her, and she has become a very sweet girl. First time meeting Brandon, but he is a good guy as well. SO, we hung out there for a lil' bit, then made out way to short stop for a drink. I have been To Little Joy the past 3 nights in a row. Feels like I am finding a cozy spot in this town. ha.
It was getting late, and we decided to call it a night. I am sure I will be seeing Abby and Brandon either tonight, or tomorrow for sure.
By the by.... Party at the Red House tomorrow! Let me know if you want in on the deets.

"I think you are pretty cute"
Big day for Technology and myself! Yesterday after work, I headed to the Apple store over at the Grove. YES. It was time for me to make the leap to ... the.... Iphone. So far it is WAY awesome, and all the fun is coming from setting it up still. I will spend a good portion of the day entering phone numbers and putting apps on my phone. Hoorah!
At the Grove there was a big stage set up for some sort of event. As I was walking around , I saw some signs informing me who was performing. None other than The Temptations! Well actually, I think they are all dead except for one. But HE was there, with an all new Temptations back up band. I stayed for a couple songs, then It was time for me to meet everyone at Barrigans.
Barrigans was a good time. Wednesday nights are cheap margarita nights. Our table of 6 was drinking all night, and the tab only came to 26 bucks. Pretty incredible. haha. I ran into the cute girl who I made a "plan" to "run into" this week. Tristans' sister and her friend, preceded to get incredibly intoxicated.
After Barrigans, we headed over to Little Joy for 2 seconds. Tristans sister and her friend could not get in because they were under age. So we headed over across the streets to Neals to hang out.
It was cool. We all got on the roof, and had a great view of Echo Park. Tristans sister revealed to me in a drunken stupor that she thought I was cute, and kept leaning on me. It was kind of funny. And I kept thinking that her friend was going to fall off the roof. Oh to be young again. haha.
OK. time to play with the iphone.

Ohhhhhh man.
I am typing this with 2 and a half hours of sleep on my back. I was pretty dumb last night. But, let me start from the beginning... ( wavey motion effects)
Last night was movie night over at Neals. He has a fantastic setup in his backyard. It contains, A movie screen, sound system, couches, chairs, hay, benches, all amongst other things to sit on. Last night Neal showed Scorseses' "After Hours". I took a class in college teaching strictly the films of Martin Scorsese, and After Hours was one that I had missed. There were between 10-15 people at the screening. And, Let me tell you, After Hours is a fantastic film! I was so impressed. Probably one of my favorite Scorsese films, even after my initial screening. It was quirky, dark, funny, uncomfortable, exhausting. If you have not seen this move. See it NOW!
Afterwards, we headed over to the Short Stop for a little bit. Did a little bit of dancing, a little bit of hanging, and took off to go to Little Joy. Hung out at Little Joy for a while. Met up with Tristans' sister, and her friend. Christina gave me a pair of pants (Thanks Christina!). And that was about the extent of it. I was overly exhausted and could not wait to crawl into my bed. After Hours, made this ever more desirable. So I take off for home.
As I reach the door to my apartment, I realize I am not wearing my keys around my neck . I also realize that my house key is in the apartment on my desk in the living room. I am locked out of my house. I Call CJ. Phone is Off. I repeatedly call Chelsea. No Answer. Its after 2am... what do I expect. I can hear Roxie crying for her papa from the inside. So, I call the neighbors to crash at their place. They are out eating. So I sneak into the apartment below me ( Its empty at the moment). I weigh my options from their balcony. No way I can get myself to out balcony. So, I meet up with the neighbors at Kitchen 24. Their first suggestion involved me getting onto the roof, and lowering myself onto the balcony. I checked it out. I would have to swing inwards, otherwise falling to my death. haha. Maybe not that dramatic. PLUS, I figure, if by some freak chance the balcony door was locked, I would be stranded. I would be forced to leap from balcony to balcony like an ape man, most likely plunging to my death. So I veto that idea. Then Jodee has the brilliant idea of calling the apartment manager. DUH. Why did I not do that in the first place? I was afraid to wake her, but she is totally cool. SO, I wake her up, get the extra key, and viola! I am in! I was so freaking relieved. I was smiling ear to ear.
I am such a freak, and a little OCD, when it comes to having my keys, and locking myself out of places. I cant believe I did that! Needless to say, it was very late at this point. And it was very much time for bed. Lets see how fun work is today...

Is throwing sand out the window considered littering?
Yesterday after work, I met up with Lauren to go ride bikes down to Buffalo Exchange. I THOUGHT it was Tristans last day, so we went to go surprise him and celebrate. BUT, it was not Tristans last day. Yet I still celebrated by getting a couple articles of clothing. haha.
On the way to Buffalo, the rear tire on my road bike got an awful flat. I filled it up, to no avail, it was flat moments later. So, Lauren rode her bike home, got her car and picked me up from B.E. Thank you LAUREN! You are the best!
She got ready to go out, and then we went to my place, and I got ready to go out. The we went to Spaceland. Spaceland on mondays are usually a hit and miss. Its a Hit earlier, and the atmosphere misses as it gets crowded and super hot. Nothing like a room full o' sweaty hipsters! We did catch a good band called The Drones, from Australia. Kind of reminded me of Frog Eyes in a way...
It was hot and crowded, so we decided to beat it. On the way out, I was stopped by a cute girl with short hair. She told me that she has seen me all over the place. Her name is Kate, or Cate. I must type this or I will forget it. We made plans to run into each-other again. haha.
I believe tonight shall be movie night at Neals, with a possible Little Joy afterwards. Everyone is totally welcome to movie night by the way. Its across the street from Little Joy, in the Red house, and Neal sets up a Movie Projector in the back yard, and there are couches and what not. Tonights movie I believe is Scoresese's "After Hours". Starts at 9pm !

You Make Cute Noises When You Sleep
I am currently listening to the "Wood/Water" album from The Promise Ring. This is one I had to dust off from the collection. It is a simply outstanding record, and what an awesome note to leave on. I feel what SeaChange did for Beck, Wood/Water did for the Promise Ring. Oh man, good memories are flooding :)
So, Kam and Cassie came into town yesterday! Kam had some friends drop her off at my work as I was getting off. We head to my place for a lil bit, eat some mac and cheese, and head off to the airport to go pick up Cassie. We head back to my place, and the girls get ready for an evening out.
We make our way to Christina's place. It was the last night of her LA residency , before she moves to the OC. So, we meet Christina, Tristan, and Neal. Drink a bit around the apartment, light some sparklers, and head over to the Cha Cha to begin the night. We hang out until midnight. That is the moment we are supposed to be able to get in to La Cita.
Midnight strikes and we head downtown to La Cita. If you have never been to La Cita, DONT GO. STAY AWAY from La Cita! You have been warned! It is some sort of club/bar, that is reminiscent of a dirty dirty mexican restaurant/flea market. The people there were lame, it was packed, and left a gross feeling all around. Needless to say it was getting late, and we leave early.
I played dad, and drove the girls through McDonchers for a late late dinner. We eat said meal, and promptly pass the fuck out!
Tonight, my buddy Tony and I are supposed to take Kam and Cassie out on a "double date". Should be fun!

Chick and Cheese Enchiladas: Liz's last night in Town
Last night was Liz's last night in town. So, after work, Liz, Pauli ( my neighbor), and myself went to go eat at a pretty sweet mexican restaurant across from The Bright Spot, in echo park. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the restaurant. But, for what it was, the atmosphere ( at least the outdoor portion), and the cuisine were mighty fine :)
After Dinner, the girls and I headed down the street to go meet some friends over at Barriagns for some 2.50 Margaritas. This was my first time at Barrigans. It was pretty rad. Liz described it as a haunted mexican restaurant. And, if you were ever curious were all the hispanic hipsters hang out in the the city.. go to Barrigans! haha.
Its a bummer Liz and I didn't get a change to go to the AA factory store. She was going to let me use her discount! Oh well, I probably don't need any more clothes at the moment anyways.
So Liz, left for the airport at 5:30 am. Time for a new batch. haha. I am so stoked that Kam is coming in town as I type this sentence out! She is in mid route in an airplane high above. She is meeting me here at work, and when I get off, we are heading over to Bob Hope Airport to pick up Cassie. I get to hang out with these fine ladies until Monday! Can't Wait!

Tick Dick
Last Night was CJ's big night. It was his first time to perform stand up comedy, EVER! It was over at the Hollywood Improv. So, After work, Liz came by to bring me my car, and we headed on over. Let me start off by saying, how much I despise Hollywood/West Hollywood Bars and Clubs.
CONS of HOLLYWOOD CLUBS:
-No Parking/Expensive Valet/Expensive Lots
-Cover to Get in
-Waiting in Line
-Douchebaggy People
-Expensive Drinks/Food
-Super Crowded
PROS of HOLLYWOOD CLUBS:
-Can't really think of any at the moment
So, The Improv, is your typical Hollywood club, only in Comedy form. I was forced to buy 2 items against my will, even though I was not hungry or thirsty. I can understand a minimum if it was a free show, but we had to buy tickets! AND STILL, they force snacks and beverages upon us!
ANYWAYS, I am getting off on a rant, and this is all besides the point. CJ was AWESOME! I was really nervous for him. But, He killed it! I see A LOT of comedy out here, and by a lot, I mean at least twice a week. He could easily fit in with any of the comedy shows I have been to. I wish I could say the same for the rest of his class. Nick M. was pretty good, but other than those 2, it was pretty weak. No one really seemed nervous, their material was just not too strong. But, Congratulations to CJ. Hopefully this will be the start of some awesomeness in the comedy world!
Afterwards, Liz and I headed back to my place where we met Christina. We went to go meet everyone from the comedy show over at Big Wangs. But, being a Hollywood Bar, There was a long wait to get in, so we ditched the place. We headed to the much more comforting, Cha Cha. It was free foosball night. I took on Liz and Christina by myself, and was not so great. haha. BUT, My friend Tony shows up, and we school them! We defined foosball that night! .... Whatever that means, haha. But, we were all tired so we did not stick around for too long. Fun night for sure.
Tonight is Liz's last night in town. We may try to go to the AA Factory Store downtown, so I can use her discount! Hoo-rah.

Chicken Tits and Duck People
Last Night Liz and I went to the Residency night at Spaceland. Megapuss ( Devandra Banhart's side project) was playing. Usually Monday nights get fairly crowded, but last night was PACKED. I think everyone wanted to see Devandra. No Natalie sighting however. haha. Their set was ok. The Highlight was probably when Aziz ( Human Giant) got on stage and sang "Duck People". We met Tristan there. It was hard for me to concentrate on anything because I was so hungry the whole time. And, I was very vocal about it. haha. So After Megapuss, we meet up with Christina and Raquel outside, and decide to go grab a late dinner at the 101 Cafe.
101 was fantastic like usual. Tristan insisted we order the Chocolate Waffle Ice Cream desert, since Liz was here on vacation. So we did, and so we ate! It was my first time to have it, and although I was utterly stuffed from my meal. The Desert was mind numbingly good. I sat for about 10 min, Spoon in hand, taking the tiniest of bites, unable to resist eating from the glorious mound of waffle, ice cream, and syrup. We were all full and tired. Everyone knew that they were going to sleep well that night. haha.
Tonight CJ performs Standup for the first time ever! It's over at the Improv, and it will be a lot of fun. I am kind of nervous for him. I think stand up is probably the hardest of the performing arts. Can't wait to see him kill! ( or bomb) either way is funny...haha. Good Luck tonight!

The 4 Diamond Hotel
As I type this, my hands are overwhelmed by some sort of mad itching. It appeared without warning, and I hope it realizes that it is unwelcome here.
Last night, after work I headed strait to LAX to pick up my buddy John who is in town until Saturday afternoon. Its a short visit, but its awesome to have him in town again! After the airport we headed to my Uncles hotel, over in Glendale. We had a late dinner with him at the restaurant inside the Hotel. I have never seen such a fancy bread basket in all of my life! It was paradise. But you could only expect so much from a "4 diamond" hotel. haha.
After Dinner, John and I headed back to my place to drop his stuff off. We then made our way over to Bernie and Kozak's to hang out for a little while to celebrate Anna's day of birth. John and I were both extremely exhausted and took off for home.
On, the way home we stopped off at Walgreens so John could pick up some sun block. As we approached the counter I began to Yawn. The Creepy woman behind the register exclaimed that my yawn was so great she could see my Belly Button. Little known fact, however: The Woman working at Walgreens at 1am on Thursday 8-7-08 lived in El Paso in the 80s.
So all I have to do is make it through work, and then I shall be attending the 88 Boadrum thingy. It is going to be RAD!

Lisa Needs Braces! Dental Plan!
Yesterday, after work, I went on my daily bike ride. My usual turnaround spot is towards the end of Echo Park, where the bike lane ends. But, Yesterday I was feeling so good, so energized, so PUMPED, I decided to venture on! So through the threshold I went. And, about a minute later, I was in downtown L.A. I knew I was close, but I never realized I was THAT close. It was pretty awesome! On my way back, I kept my eyes over my shoulder on the skyline. My face was stuck in a smile. I felt unstoppable.
Later that night I was supposed to go meet some friends at the Beauty Bar. Unfortunately, sitting around,I got beyond sleepy. I decided to stay in. I have been going at it pretty hard, and a night in was called for. I sat around with CJ and Eric and we had some good guys night in hanging outage. Lets just say, Americas Funniest Videos were involved....haha.
Tonight After work I must head over to LAX to pick up John, then go eat dinner with my Uncle who is in town, then who knows from there! Something totally fun and awesome I can assume..haha
Oh yeah... I really enjoyed this comic (thanks CJ)

B-List Celebrity Reporting:
Kevin Nealon was just here at work. He is super tall and he could not figure out how to leave the parking lot. haha. And of Course Pauley Shore is here, but thats old news.
"Come say Hi to your Neighbors in #7"
Last night was UCB night. My friend Franny is traveling across the country, and she found herself in L.A. for an undetermined amount of time. She is on a Travels with Charlie-esque journey, and it sounds way cool! I would love to do something like that. Roxie and myself, packing our bags and hitting the road in the ol' Chrysler Voyager. Hopefully one day! I have a feeling you would learn so much about yourself.
Anyways, last night we decided to go to See You Next Tuesday. Well, not so much decided, it is pretty habitual by now...haha. We started the evening by me cooking up my famous Mac and Cheese and drinking some mexican grapefruit soda that was totally awesome! I was somehow able to make the juice last at least an hour and a half. Its called savoring the tasty things in life. haha. So after we ate, we made our way to the theatre.
The Host was awesomely funny! And, it seems like there was a pattern with every other comic being off and on. I am not sure if it was the grapefruit juice, but i felt a little nauseous during the first 2 comics. The queasiness subsided, and I was able to enjoy the rest of the show.
Back at the apartment, I was getting the mail, when I found a little note from my neighbors. It was an invitation to say hello and a phone number, all written on the back of a Trader Joes receipt. I think it may be from the cute girl I mentioned in a previous blog ... the one who brought me my clothes from the laundry room. haha. So yeah, note passing can be fun ....

Do you need a foosball partner?
Wiped out again. Everyone is telling me how tired I look this morning. I think the Gloves (Danny Glover), said it best. " I'm too old for this shit!" I don't know if that is necessarily true. I mean, I am relatively young. And, although staying out late, paves the way for an awful morning. Every moment spent in the evening is totally worth it. Especially last night, as there wasmuch celebration and sadness.
Last night my friends and their friends took over the Cha Cha. We were there to celebrate Tristan's 21st Birthday, and sadly, Sarah's bon voyage to Portland. I did not get to hang out with Sarah nearly as much as I would have liked. Even in our brief relationship, she is one of the sweetest girls I have met in Los Angeles. I will miss her for sure. Neal, Christina, and myself are already planning a trip to Portland in October! I cannot wait! I here is it so beautiful, and I am so anxious to see my Texas friends who have made their way on the Oregon trail.
Sally and Collin made their way out to the Cha Cha. I know Sally fell in love with the place. I am convincing her to move to L.A. ! Anyone who thinks L.A. is a terrible place, just has yet to experience it like I have. There is so much this city has to offer! I get a rush through my body, nearly everyday, of how great it is to be in this city! Ever since the breakup, I have had a chance to take everything in, and begin to enjoy La La land to it's full extent. AND, There is still so much more exploring to do! I can't wait!
As, I was walking around at the Cha Cha. A gay guy approached me and asked me if I needed a foosball partner. I really had no intention of playing foosball, but he kind of forced me into it...haha. So I asked Sally and Collin to come over and play foosball with us. This dude, and myself schooled them ! Anyways, he was defiantly hitting on me, and it was kind of weird. I do not have a problem with gay people at all. My brother is gay, a lot of my friends are gay. It's totally cool. But, I still get uncomfortable when I am being hit on by a gay guy. I guess its the same as if anyone was being hit on , by any unwelcome offer. Luckily Tristan saw this, and sent in Christina to rescue me. haha. Thanks my friend.
So, the lights came on, last call was over, and it was time to leave the bar. I said my good-byes. Tristan thought just because Sarah was leaving, that I would not be hanging out with these friends. I thought that was silly. All these kids are really cool, and I know we will be hanging out all the time!
So, we continue through this month. AND a cray month this is! All my friends from Texas decided to come this month. I shall present the crazy schedule of friends who will be in town below:
Chart A: Friends Who will be Visiting Los Angeles and Their Arrival Date:
Sally: Present
Franny: Present
John: August 7
Liz: August 10
Kam: August 14 :)
Marrissa: August 15
Nichole: August 18
Abby: August 19
I cannot wait to see everyone! Its going to be nuts!

Caution: Sarah Spilled (:( ) : The Weekend Wrap Up
Wow, what a super long weekend we had here. haha. I have not suffered from so much day exhaust since college. The fatigue continues into today , where I overslept for work. This is probably the first time this has ever happened to me, being that I am so anal about punctuality. I was only an hour late, but still..I suck. So with my weary hands, I will briefly sum up this weekends festivities.
FRIDAY:
Afterwork, I made a long time overdue journey to the 99 cent store. The 99 cent store is a heavenly haven for Mr. MacFrugals, like myself. I went to buy supplies for distressing t-shirts. I am in the process of distressing one now. If it goes good, I shall continue to make some awesomeness.
Later that night I met up with Sarah, Christina, and Neal. We went to an "amoeba records" party over in the Echo Park area. It was a small house overflowing with all sorts of peeps. It was pretty comforting actually. It reminded me of a House party from home, with the only exception being, I did not know ANYONE. But it was a lot of fun! And I made new freinds, and was cake, and poetry magnets, and a DJ, and police officers. It got busted around 2, by this time Sarah and Christina had taken off, and Neal and I were left to fight through the party. Neills friend Alex had left her jacket at the party, she texted Neal, and asked for him to find it. I found the jacket sitting behind a HUGE black dude passed out in a chair. Alex was over at Neals, and like a night in shining armor, I returned the jacket to the princess with honor and dignity. haha. I just made a recollection of the "Glass Slipper" incident at Rachels' party a little while ago. haha. So, we hung out at Neals for a lil' bit. played some arcade, played with an adorable kitten, then it was time to call it a night.
SATURDAY:
Needless to say, I was completely exhausted Saturday. I do recall sneaking in from Friday nights activities around 8am...whoops. haha. So I spent a good deal of the day sleeping. I went on my daily bike ride around town. Got re-aquatinted with my old friend television, which I NEVER watch anymore. It's not that I am anti-TV watching , I am pro- so much other awesome things to do that do not involve sitting at home! Anyways, I rested all day. Then It was time to go out again. I went to a "Dance" Party over at Sarahs. She is moving, so they have an empty apartment. It was good times! Not much dancing, but still very nice. Made some new friends here as well. Maybe some possible business connections.... haha. I did not want to stay out TOO late again, so I left around 3... haha.
SUNDAY:
Still exhausted. I took a bike ride around town, stopped at Micky D's for an ice cream cone, came home and cleaned the bathroom. haha. Then , I was time for ASSSSSCAT at the UCB theatre. The guest monologuist that evening was Greg Proops from Who's Line is it Anyways. He seemed a lot more flamboyantly gay in person, then he seems on TV. The night was funny, but I don't know if it was as comical as usual. Maybe it was the absence of Matt Walsh? Still great, just not AS GREAT, haha. Afterwards, I met up with Sarah and Tristan and some others at the 101 cafe. Hung out for a little bit, and went to meet Miss Sally Glass, who is in town for a few days, over at the Drawing Room. Hung out for a little while, then it was totally bed time!
TODAY:
After showing up to work an hour late... I want to sneak out a little early to go catch Conor Oberst at Amoeba, then Tonight is Sarah's Going Away/ Tristans Birthday party at the Cha Cha!

Cha Ching
Last night was a pretty uneventful one. I decided to stay in, and spend the night with Roxie. I am away from home most of the time, and there is nothing like spending some quality time with your cat. haha. So, last night I decided to hook up my BRAND NEW Projector! I set up a little home theatre in the living room, complete with 5.1 surround sound. It is pretty rad, if I must say so! I watched Walk Hard. Its a pretty bad movie for the most part, and I fell asleep towards the end. You would think with that many great comedians, the movie would make you fall out of your seat with laughter. Instead, it made me fall asleep on the couch in my home theatre. wah wah. Thats about all I have to say on that.

Hot damn! Zee Sixth Dimension!
Last night was the world premiere of the 1982 classic the Forbidden Zone, in color for the first time ever! The screening took place at the classic Egyptian Theatre (pictured to the right). This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I was kind of skeptical when I heard it would be colorized. It looks phenomenal in black and white, and I thought it would be criminal to mess with a classic. But, I have to admit, the folks at Legend Films ( the ones who gave it color) did an incredible job! It was done in a tasteful manner, without it being overbearing. Richard Elfman, the director, mentioned it was always meant to be in color, they just did not have enough money for it. My congratulations goes out to Legend who made the film look even more phenomenal then it was!
Sittting next to me was a kind of weird girl. She asked me why I was there, and I told her that The Forbidden Zone was one of my favorite films. She was kind of shocked. She had never seen the film, but came because she was friends with the actor who played Froggy ( one of the characters in the movie ). She asked me a lot of questions about myself. She talked about everything from feminism and barbies to the Holocaust. Very Nice, a little bit of a weirdy.
After the Screening, There was a Q and A Panel with some of the cast and crew. The panel consisted of Richard Elfman (director), Susan Tyrell (Queen Dorris), Nick James (Writer/Prodcuer/Editor/AD), and John Nelson ( Animator). The Discussion started off a little rocky, and a bit awkward. Susan Tyrell is off her rocker. I don't know if she was always like this. I mean, she was nominated for an oscar later on, but she sure is a loon now. But, the Q and A got more interesting, yet remained a little awkward through-out. haha. Richard did confirm that he and his brother Danny are in works on a sequel to the Forbidden Zone! One of the highlights including getting Matthew Bright (Squeezit) on the phone, for he was unable to attend due to a family emergency. One of the drag queens in the audience was curious to if he was Gay or Jewish, or both. haha.
Overall, it was a very special evening. I just wish I got to share it with a couple people. Namely Zach and Camella. :) I think those 2 would have appreciated the night greatly!

I have been FOREWARNED!
Yesterday, I was arriving home from work, riding my bike into the parking structure, when a man approaches me from behind. I had my headphones in, and I pretend that I do not notice him. Out of the corners of my eyes, I notice he is not moving. So, I take out my earphones, and turn around. It is a middle aged man, probably in in his late 30's. He looks like a burnout, and he is obviously intoxicated by some sort of substance. He warns me how there have been "certain people" in the neighborhood who want to "jack" me because of the bike I ride... I have never seen this guy in the neighborhood ever, nor have I seen anyone eyeing me as I ride by them. I have 2 bikes, but he was referring to my white cruiser. He explains I cannot ride around the neighborhood on a bike like that. " I mean, come on man, the bike is a pearl white...your shoes are white." He then explains how people think I am trying to be a tough guy because I have tattoos. He goes on for another 10 minutes or so, and I just keep nodding my head. He ends where he begins by saying "You Just can't do thaaaat..." and as he drawls out "thaaaaat" he gets back on his bike and rides away.
He said he was doing me a favor. He explained that he told whoever wanted to jack me, that he would talk to me first, since I seemed like a cool guy. He also told me to spray paint my bike. Needless to say, I don't think anyone will be jacking me. This guy is a wack-a-doo. But, it still weirded me out.
I planned on staying in last night, since i was utterly exhausted from Monday nights activities. But, as I nap, my buddy Jace sends me a text asking if I was going to UCB. I told him, I would go if he went. So around 10, I met up with Jace, John, and Franny ( who is making a stop in L.A. for a little bit, while she travels across the U.S.) A lot of the "See You Next Tuesday" nights, I attend by myself. So, it was a lot of fun going with friends. The comedy show was quite exceptional in fact. All the comedians were enjoyable. I wouldn't say there was a single bad apple in the bunch. So, we watch the show, we leave, I ride my bike home. I am on the road bike this time, not the cruiser. I think that was the only thing keeping me from getting jacked as I rode into my neighborhood... haha.
Tonight is Forbidden Zone night!!!!! And, I cold not be anymore pumped!

EARTHQUAKE!!!!
Well, folks, I just experienced my very first Earthquake! I was at the reception desk here at work, when everything started shaking. It was a very surreal feeling. Not so much as scary, as more confusing on what the hell was going on... It lasted about 30 seconds, and afterwards, myself and my co-workers congregated out in the parking lot. The News reports it as a 5.8 on the richter scale. That is considered a moderate sized earthquake. I was literally shooken up, and my body felt like it was being shaken, even after the tremors had stopped. But, Like I said.. It was not scary, just more surreal.
I hope Roxie is ok!
Party All The Time Guy !
So Sleepy and and full of coughs this morning. Please allow me to explain. Last night was the Bloc Party Rock N' Bowl Party Last Night over in Eagle Rock. Although, I am not quite sure if Bloc Party was even in attendance... haha.
I attended the event with my college buddies Jace, John, and Meredith. I was also set up on a blind friend date as well, with this dude Tony. haha. Tony is a friend of a co-worker, who wanted to go to the bash last night. So my co-worker "hooked me up" with him, so Tony would not have to attend alone. He was a cool dude, and I would hang out with him again. It did however feel like we were being set up on a man-date...
The whole thing was such a blast! Free Bowling, Open Bar, Dancing, Too many Cigarettes, some crazy DJ's, Party All The Time Guy, And plenty of L.A. wackadoo girls... haha. From my observations, the majority of girls born and raised in L.A., who continue to live here, are 95% of the time going to be wackadoos...haha.
I thought I was bowling pretty well last night, then checked my score... not so good. But, Bowling is not about who has the highest score. Its about trying to keep your wrist and fingers intact from the only ball with big enough finger holes, that just so happens to be a little too heavy for you...
The event was sponsored by Sparks. So last night consisted of Free Sparks (and Vodka). I was definitely a little hyped up after drinking a couple glasses.. A lot of the evening felt like a high-school graduation party. haha. Especially after I was hopped up on Sparks and hit the dance floor.
I smoked way too many cigarettes and my lungs are paying for it this morning. I kind of feel pretty bad, and have a wicked cough. Lesson Learned.
Me So Tiiiiiirrreeed.
But, it was all worth it. A Super Fun evening indeed! Just need a little bit of a nap...haha

Where AREN'T we going? : The Weekend Wrap Up
FRIDAY:
This was a fun evening with a good ol' friend of mine from High-school, Mr. Blake Hood. Blake lives out in L.A. and he is one fella I do not get to see near as often as I would like. We started off the evening by grabbing a bite of Pizza at the Village Pizzaria off of larchmont. The Pizza was pretty good, but I wish I had ordered the thick crust. There is something about thin crust pizza that just turns me off. It's like eating one of those build-your-own pizza lunchables. But, it was my fault. I had all the intentions of ordering the thick crust, but it slipped my mind as the waitress arrived.
Blake Ordered a Beer, and as the waitress brought it out, she apologized for not bringing a bottle opener. He said that it was ok, "It's a twist-off." The Waitress insisted it was not. Blake counter-pointed. This went back and forth, until Blake made a bet, that if it was a twist-off, we would get a slice of pizza on the house. Sure enough, placing the bottle neck underneath his t-shirt, and with a quick flip of the wrist, the cap was off. It was a Plain cheese slice.
Afterwards, we went back to Blakes to pick up his roommate Greg, before we rode off to the comedy show at Meltdown Comics. We decided ( or should I say, I decided) the most fun mode of transportation would be bicycling to the comic book store. I brought an extra bike for Blake, and Greg borrowed another roommate's. We were a small bike gang, but fierce! haha. So we rode over, watched some comedy. It was mediocre. A lot funnier in the past. We rode home though the dark streets of some of the nicest neighborhoods in Hollywood. It was a great feeling. Greg headed in, and Blake and I decided to do something a little un orthodox, and grab some PinkBerry. This was my first venture into the holy territory. There is nothing like grabbing some delicious frozen yogurt with a good friend, at midnight. Well, I bet grabbing some delicious frozen yogurt with a good friend at one a.m. would be pretty similar....
SATURDAY:
I spent the better part of the day riding my bike around town, watching movies, cleaning the apartment, etc. Come night fall, I had planned on going to a party with Lauren. Lauren picks me up, 5 after 10, and we head to Highland Village for the mystery party. Be forewarned. If the party promises interpretive dance performances, this is probably a passable party. How is that for alliteration? haha. We arrive, and do a walk by. We spot a couple people in the house laying on the floor, and a camera set up, and a weirdo guy waiting by the door to go in. We continue to walk. We walk, we loop, and we are back in the car, heading to some place more comforting. A friend was having an " I am off to Canada for 2 months" celebration. Thats like the 4th "I am off to Canada for 2 moths" celebration , just this month!
SUNDAY:
I accomplished a goal, I have been wanting to for a long time. I did it. I made it to the top of Runyon Canyon! (see picture above). I made an earlier attempt in the past. It involved me nauseously, huffing and puffing up the mountain, until I reached what was about halfway point, and was forced by my body to turn around. Given, this was in the midst of the several months I suffered from a panic disorder.
So Yesterday, I rode my bike to the canyon. And with my bike mix blasting in my headphones, I trekked up the terrain. It was easier then I could have imagined. I guess my workouts have payed off! I felt incredibly accomplished when I reached the peak. I witnessed a view of Los Angeles, unlike one I had ever seen. It truly was breathtaking. I sat up there for a little while, and took everything in. Honestly, this helped me re-evaluate a lot of things in my life. I felt accomplishing this goal, helped me put a lot of things behind me. I left, feeling a since of greatness. I was the mountain.
I arrived home, and received a phone call from Kameron. I had a short but sweet conversation with this girl. It was really nice getting to talk to her :)
I Then made my way over to the UCB theatre for my ritualistic ASSSSCAT performace. It is always really funny and a good time. But, I felt it was exceptionally funny this evening. Consistent laughing throughout the entire performance! Over the past few months, I have developed a since of humor. I am no longer afraid to LOL, if you will. haha. And, I have the Upright Citizens Brigade to thank. So, Thank You.
I did not sleep well last night. I watched a movie and went to sleep later than usual. I woke up a couple hours later, restless and unable to fall back asleep. I made my way to the living room. Ate some Butterfinger Birthday Cake, and watch I Am Sam on TBS. Around 5am, I was able to pass out on the couch.
Tonight I will be Rocking and Bowling with Bloc Party! Shall be a reeeeallll good time!

It's Hammer Time!
Last night was my first trip to the Hammer Museum. Indie 103.1 was putting on a special performance of Tokyo Police Club and Afternoons. So, I invited my friends Stephanie and we made our way to the museum.
I have heard the name Tokyo Police Club, but never really gave them a listen. I was more interested in the L.A. band Afternoons ( who are comprised of the members of Irving). I was quite surprised at the fan base occupying the beautiful Museum courtyard, where the stage was set up. I felt a million years old. The majority of crowed, consisted of High School age hooligans. I definitely felt like the older brother taking my younger sibling out to a musical event. haha.
The "hipster" culture is a bizarre one. I remember when I was in high-school, I pretty much stood out of the crowed. I was looked upon being a little weird for rolling my jeans up...haha. But, It seems that a good percentage of high-schoolers these days are American Apparel hipsters. And they were ALL at the Hammer Museum last night!
Afternoons did a soundcheck and we had 40 min. to kill. So, Stephanie and I checked out some of the art the museum had to offer. A lot of French turn of the century artists. Saw a couple Van Gough's, Matis, Rembrandt, etc... And there was a pretty sweet video instillation, by an artists who's name slips my mind.
Afternoons, finally goes on. They put on a fantastic show! I had seen them once before, but it was even more enjoyable in this environment. It was getting a little chilly, and we were hungry, so we did not stick around for TPC. I did not have much a desire to see them anyways.
I think this may have been the last concert event at the Museum for the summer, but I am looking forward to the series next year!

The Snorks.
I feel overly optimistic at the moment. Something snapped this week, where I just feel pretty great most of the time. I can't really explain it. It may be a phase, but hopefully the feelings are not fleetings.
Know what I am not a big fan of ? When riding my cruiser on the sidewalk, people see me coming, and freeze like a deer in headlights. OR, even worse, when they see me coming, and purposely block the little ramp things off the sidewalk. Who the fuck does that? I will tell you who... citizens of Little Armenia. Well, cut it out you jerks.
I was very lazy last night. I wanted to go see The Wizard of Oz at the Grove. They were showing it outside in their little park. Unfortunately, I did not have anyone to go with. AND, if I went by myself I would have felt that everyone was staring at me. Why can't a young male adult watch The Wizard of Oz by himself in a park with a bunch of families and little kids? But, they are showing movies every wednesday for the next month.. So I shall have other opportunities. Even though, Wizard of Oz is pretty much my favorite movie of all time...
So, instead I was going to go on a long bike ride and clean the house when I got back. Alternatively , I spent the evening cyber chatting on the interweb with someone cool...haha. But, that was more than fine with me. I have been so active, its perfectly ok to have a night in, where I do not do anything. Actually, it was probably needed!
Tonight, I shall be seeing Tokyo Police Club and Afternoons at the Hammer Museum. Shall be fun!

"When I had you to myself, I didn't want you around"
MONDAY NIGHT:
So, last night was the typical Monday Night routine. I start off the evening at Spaceland. Usually Spaceland is filled with people who seem pretty cool and interesting. Last night it seemed as if a West Hollywood invasion had taken over this East side club. Some awful pretty boy/radio pop/rock band played. Its as if these guys said, "hey.. we are all good looking dudes, girls like us, BUT... let us start a musical project to broaden our woman base! And we shall dub thee Hello Vegas !" That is where they high-five each-other and start taking notes from their favorite christian alternative bands... The second band was a little better.. strait on rock, but they too looked like douche bags.. haha. I guess they were friends with actor/musician Drake Bell ( of Nickelodeon Drake and Josh Fame, haha) because he was there as well...I left Spaceland early because of the lameosity of the evening. I proceeded to head over to Barneys for Karaoke. Pleasant time there. I sang an awful rendition of "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5. Stayed for a while, grew exhausted and came home.
WORK:
Work has been pretty cool lately. I felt like such a worthless human being for such a long time, since I was doing absolutely nothing at work. I would sit on the internet all day long, watch youtube videos, and play on myspace. I FINALLY am starting to be productive, and am doing my fair share of work. I have learned a lot here, as far as the more technical side of Post Production work. I can see myself staying here a little longer then I expected. I wanted to rush into Production asap. But, now that I am actually working, I enjoy everything a lot better. The stability is nice as well..haha.
COMING UP TONIGHT:
See You Next Tuesday @ the UCB !!!!

It's the Potters!
Last night was an exhausting one! My friends Harry and The Potters played here in L.A. last night. One of my good friends, John Clardy is on tour as their drummer. The tour is entitled "The Unlimited Enthusiasm Tour". The name is by far, more than suiting... Potters, and the rest of the bands took over the historic Troubadour, with decorations and little booths consisting of a summer camp theme. The ULTIMATE summer camp as the theme song explains.
The bands on tour with the Potters this time around were, Uncle Monsterface, Math the Band, and the ever wonderful Jason Anderson. All put on a great show. Every song was an energetic punch to the stomach. It was more than draining to say the least..haha. The audience was young, and were able to withstand and withhold the "energy punches". I felt in the minority of those over 21 for sure...
This was my first time at the Troubadour. With all the historic events, and name bands that play there, I was expecting a grand ballroom. But, it was relatively small, and intimate. Pretty cool place, with the major downfall being its West Hollywood location.
After the show I went with The Potters over to the world famous Pink's Hotdogs. This was my first experience at Pink's.. a little overdue seeing that I have been here for almost a year! Paul treated me to a chili dog, and I am not quite sure if it lived up to the hype, but it was quite tasty.
After Pink's it was around 2:30am, and I let the Potter guys, along with Uncle Monsterface, crash at my place. It was fantastic getting to see everyone! And, John said he is going to try to come back in August for a couple days, which would be great!
Tonight will consist of CJ's birthday activities. Happy Early Birthday, my friend!

I'm Sorry for Being a jerk...
The past couple weeks, I have been in a funk. Its causing me to treat some of my friends poorly.. one friend in particular. Depression likes to creep up on you at the least opportune times. Don't get me wrong. I do not consider myself depressed, or to suffer from depression, but I have been stricken by the "blah", more often than not. I try to maintain a positive attitude, but sometimes the "I miss her" factors, are too over bearing.
It has been almost 3 months since the break up. I have done a lot of good things for myself! I am waaaaaaay more active then I have ever been. I lost a lot of weight. I have made lots of new friends. I do fun activities 6 out of 7 nights a week. Unfortunately, my new found lust for life, is lacking one thing. I was warned that she was a heart breaker from the beginning, and she swore to never break mine. But, as I do with most relationships ( friends and lovers ) , I took things for granted, and feel that I am the cause for the end results.
Not a single minute goes by where I do not think of her. I need to move on, but I have never felt so weak in this department. I have met a lot of new women, and have gone on a fair amount of dates, but as my friend Sinead always said " nothing compares to you ". That was cheesy and lame, with the borderline gay, haha. I apologize.
I am pretty sure she has a new boyfriend. I don't know for a fact, but that is the assumption I am making. I lost all contact with her. I do not see her on myspace, Ichat, and I erased her number out of my phone so I cannot call or text her. And, I guess I am just typing this thing to vent. I don't have anyone to vent to. I may have ruined, at least temporarily, my friendship with the one friend out here, who I feel I could REALLY talk to.
I Love life, and I love what I have done with myself. I look great and feel great. I just think I may have been brainwashed into thinking I was going to spend the rest of my life with this girl, and I need the mind warp to wear off. So, in the meantime there is nothing for me to do. Time heals all. I just wish the clock's hands would spin a little faster...

Foos It Up!
Last night was Free Foosball night at the Cha Cha. Being a fan of the "foos", I met Lauren and Lindsey there for some ultimate foosball. Lauren and I played for a little while before Lindsey showed up. There must be some sort of skill and strategy to foosball, but I can't really figure it out...haha. We both had our share of wins, but I think overall Lauren was the better Foos player that evening.
Without notice, this overwhelming since of tiredness had struck me, and I could not stay out that much longer. I was foosed out for sure. So, I watched Lauren and Lindsey play a couple games of foosball, and I was off and out.
The tiredness continues into this morning. I feel sleepy and a little bummed out. When am I going to get over THIS ?

Itchy Eye Balls.
Its awful having itchy eyeballs and not being allowed to go near them for 3 months! Hopefully the itchiness will subside after this week. If I believe in it, it will! Its all in the power of the mind! haha.
MUSIC:
Last night was the residency show at Spaceland. I didn't stay for Under the Influence of Giants, who is the resident band this month, BUT, I did get to catch Lukas Hass. He is one of those actors turned musicians, and you would know him from Mars Attacks, Brick, Last Days, etc. But I really enjoyed his music! He reminded me a lot of Blake Sennett. The opening band was a punch of pretty boys who are "down with folk music". The bands name was Whiskey.. something, I forget. But, they were pretty bad, and there songs were pretty lame. Well, at least they still have their looks....
It hit 11 o'clock, and it was time to move my car. So , I just decide to head over to meet some friends at Barney's Beanery for karaoke night.
KARAOKE:
Not much to say about Karaoke night. Its always a fun time! So, naturally, it was a fun time. haha. I laid low, and chose not to sing. However, my friends put on a drunkenly superior show, as always! So I stayed for a couple hours, and then it was past my bedtime. I drive through Taco Bell, for a late night dinner, finish off Disc 1, Season 2 of Weeds, tape my eye shields to my face, and fall asleep.
Things I am Looking forward to This Week:
- Seeing John, and the Harry and the Potters folks
- GLOW at the Santa Monica Pier

LASIK WEEKEND 2008!
Well, The time has finally come! I am free from all corrective lenses!!! I got my lasik Saturday, and to my suprise, it was A LOT easier then I thought it would be. It is the post-op work that is a pain in the ass....
SATURDAY (Surgery Day):
I was nevervous all week for the lasik procedure. From its description, it is a quite scary process. Your head its strapped to a chair, and your eyes
held open by clamps (very Clockwork Orange-esque), while you watch the doctor cut open your eyeball, and shoot lasers into it, and smell your eye ball burning, and hear popping, etc... But, its really not scary at all once you do it! I promise. You cant see what's going on that well, because your cornial flap is open.. so everything just looks blurry, and like you are under water. The procedure takes about 10 min. and you are done. Lauren was kind enough to drive me to and from the procedure, since you are not allowed to drive yourself. We leave the office, and my eyes are KILLING ME. I have to wear these douchey sunglasses all day and night, and it is nearly impossible to keep my eyes open. So I get home, lay down, and fall in and out of sleep for a little while. Around nightfall, I am finnaly able to keep my eyes open, I watch some "Jurassic Park" with CJ, he falls asleep, I finish and watch the end of "Weeds: Season 1".
Post-Op is the difficult part. I have 3 different kinds of eye drops I have to use, 1 for a week ,1 for 2 weeks, 1 for a month or more. The worst are the eye steroids, which are this sick milky substance that sticks to your eye lids. It goes through my sinus, and I can actually taste it, and feel it in my throat. Pretty sick! ( Not "Sick", as in " Oh Man! Its raining Pizza Rolls! Thats Sick!!!"). I have to sleep with plastic "eye shields" taped to my face for a month. I wake up, take those suckers off, and I have sticky face for a good part of the day. Why don't I just wash my face really well? Well, Washing your face is scary as shit! You are in constant fear of putting to much pressure around your eyes, which will do damage. The way the doctor and info sheet make it sound, any little action close to your eyeball, may possibly do some damage. I will just be happy in a month or so, when all Post-Op precautions are through!
SUNDAY: GraveYard Movie Night
Sunday I had to go back to the doctor in the morning. He was going to "wipe" my eyes, whatever that means. But, he said they looked perfect, and just to come back next week for it. So I left, and went and got my first pair of "real" sunglasses! Sunglasses, that are not the blue-blocker, old man, fits over my normal glasses, sun glasses. Went to hung out with Lauren and do some free laundry while she was house-sitting. Drove home to get ready for the evening. As I was driving home, I had this weird vibe. I couldn't explain it.. there was just an oddness in the air. I was at a stoplight at an intersection, when a car comes speeding by on my left, goes through the red light, and nails 2 cars. It was pretty nuts! Maybe that was the pinnacle of the odd factor? Anyways, I get home and get ready for the CEMETERY MOVIE!
Every Saturday and Sunday, they show movies in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. It is a really cool cemetery where likes of Marilyn Monroe, and other old celebs are buried. This was my first time to go, but I have been wanting to ever since I found out about when I had just moved here. It was a lot of fun! Tons of people go. You walk through the cemetery to get to the open area where they show the movie. Everyone brought blankets and picnics, and games to play before the movie. It was great! I felt like it was the 4th of July and and I was about to witness a spectacular fireworks display! haha. The movie they were showing last night, was the 80s classic "Valley Girl" with Nicholas Cage. Everyone gets into the movie, yelling stuff, and clapping, and whooping it up. I would definitely like to attend again, but have a little more picnic preparation!
So, thats it. I have my eyes back, and am waiting out the post-op procedure. As much of a pain it is to take care of your new eyes for a couple months. It is/will be waaaaaaaay more than worth it! If anybody is considering lasik, it is so simple and easy, just do it! Or, if you have any lasik questions, feel free to ask me. haha.
